Another tough looking card, but I can't pass up fading Zito on the road against one of the best offenses in the majors.  This play has to be made.

Happ ranks #20 in my database in the last 30 days and Shields ranks #31.  Both have solid numbers on the season too.  Both offenses are slumping.  Both teams fighting to stay afloat.  I expect a pitchers duel.

Hi Si1ly,
Are you serious about Happ ranking #20 ?? That guy pitched 17.2 innings in July with a 5.09 ERA (3 as a RP). So in your database Happ (previous 4 outings as relief pitcher) is better than verlander, weaver, shields etc... COMMON

It sure is looking like a low scoring game. FYI Longoria is back in the lineup, hope it doesn't make any difference.

I wish I seen your sheet first. Happ is ranked #21 against left handers in your sheet. Tampa has only 2 lefties pena and joyce i guess.
Anyway BOL.

I should have checked more closely at the sample size.  I run a "last 30" report every few days.  He's pitched well in his one start and four relief appearances, but it's a small sample size relative to the other pitchers in that database.  Still, on the season he ranks a respectable #101.  Tampa is a very pitcher friendly park and I think he can manage the game against the Rays who rank #27 in total offense over the last 30 days and #24 on the season against lefties.  With or without a rusty Longoria.  Also, Happ has never faced most of this Rays team so the unfamiliarity factor is in my favor.
