#1 Posted: 7/30/2012 11:13:50 PM I have been posting daily on the baseball forum for most of the season and I just gotta say that it baffles me how often people flip out after losing a bet (or in some cases trailing in a game). I might get several darn you comments for this but so be it. Today for example, it was a brutal card on paper and lots of good cappers in here took losses. I also took some losses today on a couple plays I completely miss read. In the course of a long season and long haul, it's gonna happen. This leads me right into another huge point that hopefully some people can benefit from. The one thing I cannot emphasize enough is proper bankroll management. Going "all in" or playing WAY outside your bankroll, or chasing with a massive parlay, will absolutely kill you in the long run. I have been down that road before in the past and I know appreciate my roll and proper bankroll management more then ever. Trust me, I hate losing a bet just as much as you do, but if you are approaching it the right way and utilizing bankroll management then you probably won't find yourself making darn YOU threads to whatever team your bashing. If you approaching this thing the right way, you will be able to put it pass you and move on to the next day. Nobody is perfect and everyone will miss plays. I was once told "it's not a sprint, it's a marathon" and it's so true. We are in this for the long haul, so being able to set yourself up for success in the long run will ultimately let you overcome the inevitable losing days. You can't hit a grand slam when nobody's on base... take it for what it's worth... ill end my rant

#9 Posted: 7/30/2012 11:20:30 PM Most bettors are aware of the money management, but they still don't use it. They might use 5% of it for the first whatever games and see what happens. When losing streaks happen though, they go on a mad tilt and start putting more and more wagers on each game. That's just human-nature to those who hasn't accepted the proper bankroll management. I was like that when I first began.
That said, I don't understand why it 'baffles' you when you see people flipping out. Why bother reading them if it bothers you so much? |

#16 Posted: 7/30/2012 11:26:03 PM its very hard to avoid the addictive behaviors associated with making easy money.
for example. losing half your winnings in 1 night that took 2 weeks to build. you just cant accept that loss. you chase.
very hard to not play a day after a win streak. seems like everything you think plays out, your a genius. you start throwing money at action, suddenly the tide turns.
for me, taking breaks is necessary to keep playing. after 2-3 weeks of play, i become unable to stop playing until i tilt. So i have to try & keep games casual in terms of capping & risk amounts. Playing free of fatigue & emotional extremes makes me pick winners.

well said... capping games with a clear mind usually results in much better days... your giving yourself your best chance at winning for sure

#19 Posted: 7/30/2012 11:35:06 PM Well said, SJS. I agree completely.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of gamblers here who let their emotions govern their behaviours. The internet offers everyone anonymity and those people who complain the loudest on covers would probably never think about walking into a room of strangers in real life and start complaining. I've been there and sometimes I'll even join in with those crying in their beers as a way of venting, but I would never bash someone here which seems to be an ongoing trend on these forums. It's probably the main reason why a lot of great cappers were driven away from covers.
People come here for different reasons. Most are good people just looking for help, or to offer help. And maybe they get a little too down when they lose a bet, or get too excited when they win one. But there are also haters/garbage disturbers who just come here to ridicule and disrupt the forum. Anyways, thanks for the words of wisdom, SJS

#20 Posted: 7/30/2012 11:35:33 PM dont know bout baffling but its more like people expect a certain expectation out of team when they bet. I have no problem with the venting because its justified. What SHOULD bother you is people chasing the same team knowing they are garbage because its insanity and rant on day in and day out. Its a sign of bad luck. I feel for these guys who lose as MLB has screwed my bankroll these last few months. BOL Shark |

#24 Posted: 7/30/2012 11:38:33 PM while everything you say is absolutely right this forum believe it or not is literally a million times more tame then the football forum. sundays are insane and i dont know what mods make but they earn it all during football season..this forum is a cake walk compared to that one |

baffling might not have been the best word to use. you make a solid point, betting on a losing to team and getting pissed because said losing team lost lol... that happens alot too.
like I said I might not be completely off... got a couple drinks in me so my drunken thoughts are coming out hahah
