First things first. Old friend backdoor_cover came in with a 2-0-1 yesterday on his 5 inning plays and those probably should not be ignored. JEG and I have a hell of a time keeping him sober and out of rehab, but when he has his head on straight he does pretty good.
Next, I want to thank all my friends for the loyalty, but please don’t bother to respond to the critics, bashers and faders that show up. Both bd_c and JEG can tell you it took me four years here to realize they aren’t worth it. Besides, they are a necessary part of what we do, supplying the books with money to pay us. Not to worry, the system works, and they almost never come back if they were wrong on any given day. That takes gonads (or humility, rarely seen on Covers).
Regarding your already made play JEG, if you got +130 or better I think you have the value side of the play, but I rate it a tossup and am not sure I am playing that game myself. Two things bother me. The Twins are not very productive versus righties and Porcello is the luckiest s.o.b. on the planet. I don’t know if he carries a rabbit’s foot on his key chain or wears a St. Jude medal around his neck but noone else in MLB gets bailed out more often by his bullpen and offense than Rick Porcello. I don’t know what the heck it is but I lose to Porcello when I don’t deserve to, so maybe if I lay off you will have a winner there.
Last, I have to say I am probably going to start doing this more often. Get the thread up early for comments and questions and then plug in the plays later. There is an old axiom in the sports betting community, play your favorites early and your dogs late, and there is a lot of truth to it. Since the public likes favorites they generally drive prices up and the dogs pay better later in the day. Since I am primarily a dog player that should work to our advantage, but I realize how work and home schedules are and some guys will miss picks if they can’t get them early, so I try to accommodate that. We will see. Cya later.
