I've been living on the under plays lately, and squeaked another out for the sunday afternoon game. Even when the Mariners were lighting up the scoreboard in the first 2 innings, I wasn't horribly concerned, as their offense is rarely consistent over the course of a game. There have been too many holes to string together enough hits for a big innings.
I liked the under 7.5 yesterday, but i'm not sold on the under 7.0 today. Fister is making his first start since his DL stint. Beavan does give up hits, and the Tigers hit better vs righty pitchers.
Unless the Mariners are playing a red hot team, or the mariners are playing horribly, I'm not too excited to lay much juice for the pleasure of fading the mariners. They lost 4 games in Tampa by a total of 5 runs. Make no mistake, Tampa is the better team, but the mariners hung with them to a large degree.
Until the mariners young players fade away under the pressure of a 162 game season, or until the advance scouts figure out how to pitch to everyone, they tend to be playable as heavy dogs, and fade material as heavy favorites, assuming you have a reasonably close matchup on the mound. Felix vs Marquis isn't reasonable, yet that game was scoreless in the 6th inning.
looking at tonight, I'm not finding an angle yet to sink my teeth into, could be the Tigers Team Over, if I can find reason to think Beavan will struggle, I'm hesitant to back a game over unless I can project both pitchers to have a decent chance of blowing up.
Havent researched the Tigers pen much yet, not have I found out what kind of pitch count Fister is on.
We;ll see . . .

Beavan will be just fine tonight. The Tigers fare very poorly against pitchers that they havn't seen before.
The Mariners have owned us as of late.
Papa Grande is probably not available tonight (which is a good thing), he's thrown 3 days in a row (55 pitches).
Benoit has seen a lot of action lately. Coke and Balester would probably be ready for some long relief duty if Fister had a short outing. That doesnt bode well for the Tigers. Bullpen is not looking good tonight.
Tigers are crushing RHP lately, but on the road they're an abysmal .222

Wally Bell is 0 overs and 5 unders this year. He usually has a pretty decent strike zone and hovers around the .500 mark as far as O/U's go. Could be due for an over?

I'm also seeing a tigers team that is pretty good at getting flyballs, the 4th highest rate among all MLB teams, and those bats will get a shot against a flyball pitcher tonight, who pitches to contact.

i'm leaning towards a tigers over 4.0 play at -110 . . . the over 7.0 will cost me more to back and will likely require the mariners offense to make a contribution.
i don't like laying 30 cents to back the tigers in this spot, and i'm not so sure this lineup is a good match up for beavan either, so i think the prices on the sides are pretty fair, with a slight advantage to the home team.

I'm starting to gear towards the M's tonight. It's not the greatest number, but I just dont think Fister is strong tonight. Heading back to Seattle...off the DL....bullpen will be throwing some innings. No good for my Tigers. And to top it off, I have Fister on my fantasy team and my pitchers have been blowing up lately...probably wont be any different tonight. I shouldnt even throw him yet until I see something out of him, but I keep telling myself it's the Mariners! I hope he doesnt get lit up for no reason

The Tigers bullpen issues for tonight arent as much of a concern as they might be versus other teams. the mariners have been horrible this season in the late stages of the game, and in most of those cases they are facing relief pitchers. only the Padres are worse in the 7th inning or later, and both hit under .200 as team in those situations.
the mariners have young hitters, who tend to learn with each at bat, they have struggled against relief pitchers. they can make a mop up guy look like an 8th inning specialist.

3825....i always check your threads since you seem to have your finger on the pulse of these m's. what and up and down team they are???!!! one week they are sweeping the tigers on the road, then the next week they are getting perfect gamed by PHIL HUMBER --the same fucker that couldn't go 3 innings today without giving up 8 fucking runs

kenny . . . exactly, they are very tough to predict, many of their games are a simple crapshoot, and if thats the case, i'd rather hold the ticket with the + on it, instead of the one requiring to lay some juice.
i learned that the hard way when i thought Felix at -140 was a bargain versus the a's.
they could have easily won 3of 4 in tampa and they swept the tigers in detroit, but lost to twins and needed some late inning offense to beat them with felix on the mound.
