#1 Posted: 5/7/2012 4:34:35 AM Now that he finally hit his first HR of the season will Pujols go on a tear or was his brilliant performance in last years World Series a one time thing? Was he really worth his $240 Million 10 year contract?

#3 Posted: 5/7/2012 6:09:02 AM Its not just the play of the field that he got 240 Mill for. The Numbers he will draw for people buying season tickets, selling out every night, Jersey and T-shirt sales. If you have a full ball park every night then people buy garbage (food, hats, etc). That is why he got the 240, the Angel can make up that money in season ticket sales in no time. |

#5 Posted: 5/7/2012 7:50:23 AM Agree with 44....
But also, it's a month into the first season of the contract....3, 4. 5 years from now you might be saying he was well worth 240 mill.

#7 Posted: 5/7/2012 7:59:17 AM agree completely, just want to hear opinions...also agree with 44 but if he doesnt perform people will stop coming to see him, etc...I am not saying this because I dont like the guy, it is just reality...I actually hope that he now found his swing and this was the 1st of many HR's for him this season

#8 Posted: 5/7/2012 8:01:08 AM I don't think you can predict him going on a tear, but you know the guy will perform. Remember when Ortiz was going through his terrible slump? Everybody was saying he was DONE, and would never be the same. Now it's a distant memory, and he's (once again) one of the best hitters in baseball.
The sun DID rise this morning, it WILL set tonight, and Pujols WILL be the 240 million dollar player we love to see wreaking havoc on the field. |

#9 Posted: 5/7/2012 8:27:10 AM I thought so but man this slump has killed the angels. Ala Uggla's last year. This could be a worse deal than A-Rod's. I'll admit i was wrong |

#13 Posted: 5/7/2012 10:01:01 AM No Iw1nBets you are not in the twilight zone ! Thats a real bad deal regardless of ticket sales and t-shirts ! I am sure the front office is already regretting this deal !
Next question... How many if any long term high dollar deals have really paid off for MLB ball clubs ?????? |

#16 Posted: 5/7/2012 11:39:07 AM This thread will be irrelevant by the end of the year...Pujols is too good not to get it together
With the tv ratings he draws from the entire state of California alone, Pujols brings in the $$ |
