The Nationals offense this season hasn't been very good with Jordan Zimmermann (1-2, 1.89 ERA) on the hill. The right-hander has received one run or none in four of his five starts, and his 2.16 run support average is among the worst in the league. Zimmermann is 0-2 with a 6.60 ERA in three career starts against the Phillies.
Cole Hamels (3-1, 2.78) gets the ball tonight for Philadelphia who looks to help the Phillies avoid being swept for the first time this season. Since dropping his first start, he's 3-0 with a 2.33 ERA over his last four while striking out 27 and walking five. The left-hander had gone 6-0 with a 2.73 ERA over his previous nine starts against the Nationals before allowing three runs in five innings of a 4-2 loss in his most recent outing in the series Aug. 12.
