He is a freak that needs to be closeing or starting. It is a no brainer!

too wild to be a closer, but pretty soon he will either be moved to starting rotation or closer i would guess next year at the latest, i'm not sure they wanna put him at closer right now and if he struggles it might be really bad for his mind, gotta bring this kid up slowly and just be patient he's gonna be either a bad ass starter or best closer in league

Because Dusty Baker is a dumb azz !!!  You have a guy whos throws 100mph and getting much beter control then he had at 1st, There wasting him in the middle of the game.

It is just blows my mind you have the most lethal arm in mlb and it is not being used in the best way to help the team. Chapmans stats are off the charts and his potential is threw the roof!

his control has improved from last year.  Hes not flying off to the third base side after ever pitch is thrown.  He keeps thats sholder in and he will be just fine.  Coming from a Cincinnati Reds home grown fan

Chapman cant pitch no better than the way he is pitching right now. Most FLAME throwers have a short wick. USE IT NOW!!! The Reds have one heck of a team. With a nasty closer it builds confedence within the whole team! It is a shame the way they are useing Chapman.

YTD= IP13.1 H5 BB4 K23 W2 L0 ERA0.00 WHIP0.68! WOW! Cant figure what the Reds are thinking???????? He is the nastiest pitcher in all of baseball right now being used WRONG! Let him start and see how far this freak can go! The numbers he would put up would be off the charts!  Nothing better for me in all of sports, is to witness pure DOMINATION by a Major League pitcher!!! Let CHAPMAN START!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He still needs work on his slider. He'll have a strong 3 set after that. If he wants he can finally add another pitch and a variation to his delivery.

Marshall has been very good other than the one blown save. As a devout Reds fan I have listended to explanations from various Reds sources and there are several reasons......he has never closed games before, they want him to be a starter but with Madsen, Massett and Bray hurt in the bullpen they needed someone to help out there. Since Chapman has laready been   bullpen guy he was the logical choice. Things might have been different if Chapman lit it up in spring training as a starter, but he didn't.

Naw, the only thing that's challenging Ray is his son's diabetes. Look, I'm not trying to argue with your point. I've been watching Aroldis since he was on the Bats and moving to the Mud Hens. I love his potential and he does need those other pitchers to last long. I rather not see him go on the Tommy John express over doing it with heat all the time. He gets that stuff down I could see Randy Johnson or Nolan Ryan material.

Yeah Dusty Baker is an idiot, yet he took his team from last place to first in the NL central going 91-71 with a very young ballclub. Everyone wants to hate on Dusty Baker, but just doing that is amazing to me. Not to mention they are 17th in payroll.

The Reds are a tough team right now. Any MLB coach could do well with this squad. Bottom line is, Chapman has to become a bigger part of this team to become a real contender. Chapman is good for the game and with the violence he pitches with, his talents needs to be used now!

You need atleast 3 average pitches to be a ML starting pitcher. Chapman does not have that right now. He has a plus plus fastball and a pretty good slider that could be more consistent. He doesnt have a 3rd go to pitch.

You put him in the starting rotation and 2nd/3rd time through the lineup he will get hit up and that could really screw with him mentally.
