He will probably fight his demons and addictions all his life. What happens when he is 40, his athletic skills are gone, and noone cares to step in anymore? Yes, sad.

I don't think this affects the Rangers season much at all, assuming Hamilton is in the lineup.

I remember reading about a month ago that Hamilton's father in law didn't want to be his sponsor anymore. Josh has had hundreds of good days unfortunately he keeps being remembered for 1 bad day

I hope he fixes this. Start over Josh, one day at a time. Huge talent. Nice guy.

I don't feel sorry for a grown-behind man who can't stop drinking. Really, a grown man who is 30 years old can't stop drinking. Really? This is not a disease. People can stop drinking WHENEVER THEY WANT TOO, and don't tell me they can't, cause they can. He don't want to stop. Talk to me about  Leukemia or Parkinson's. You know, REAL DISEASES people get that they don't bring on themselves. I don't feel sorry for anybody that has a problem that they bring onto themselves.

Yep, it's that easy.  Just like gamblers can stop gambling any time they want. They can lose their money, house, family, but hey, they can stop any time they want, right?

This story sickens me!  NOT because Josh relapsed, but because it is actually a story.  He got drunk at a bar and responsibly called his friend and teammate to pick him up.

He wisely did not get behind the wheel and drive while intoxicated.  Thus, I cannot wait till the news reports when something heinous occurs again, such as Josh being spotted spitting tobacco on a sidewalk.

Yes, it is sad that this is even news. A guy with addiction problems binges, yet is responsible enough not to get behind the wheel.  Whoever reported this is a pathetic, empty, worthless imbecile.

Your ignorance on the subject is abhorring. Alcoholism is a scientifically and medically proven fact.

Not a chance in Hell, but hey, that just me and the way I CAN CONTROL MY LIFE. What, you can't control your life? Gimme a freaking break. Maybe you can't control your life.

Well, I don't know what abhorring means. But yes, Josh Hamilton had NOTHING to do with him being an alcoholic. Just like that 6 year kid who has cancer. If someone can't stop drinking, they are weak. Again, I don't feel sorry for someone who BRINGS PROBLEMS ON TO THEMSELVES. I guess you do. Go ask that kid if he brought that cancer on himself. Do you feel sorry for someone what murders someone and then goes to prison?

Texas Rangers outfielder and recovering drug addict Josh Hamilton said Friday that he had a relapse that started with "three or four" drinks at a Dallas-area bar this week, apologizing for a "weak moment" and insisting he will try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

You see, he said it himself. he had a "weak moment". That's because he is "weak minded".

How am I weak minded?

There are people who lose everything because they can's stop drinking/gambling/doing drugs. You can call it weak minded, but it's a mental sickness, regardless. They want to stop, but they don't want to stop. It's a viscous cycle. Which you clearly don't have enough knowledge on, or you just want to appear high and mighty on message board.

Nobody here, but yourself, compared cancer to alcoholism. It's not even on the same wavelength for discussion.
