Rangers may not win, nothing is a gurantee. But they are by far the bettter team. Lets break down the lineups:
Kinsler-Furcal: Advantage Rangers big
Andrus-Craig- Advantage Cardinals slight
Hamilton-Pujols- Advantage Push (hard to pick between two MVP players)
Young-Berkman- Advantage Rangers big (Berkman not so hot against Lefties)
Beltre-Holliday- Advantage Rangers
Cruz-Freese- Push with Cruz being banged up
Napoli-Molina- Rangers big
Murphy-Punto- Rangers big
So the lineup breakdown looks like this. The Rangers are a lot deeper and have much more quality hitters. Pujols is amazing but Berkman doesnt doesnt hit lefties well and thats why LaRussa has moved him out of the cleanup whole everytime they face a lefty. Guess LaRussa knows something. Dont discount Murphy either, he is hitting 8th for the Cardinals but would be hitting much higher for the Cardinals.
Pitching Breakdown
Starter (Harrison-Carpenter) You gotta go with Carps experience here but him pitching on short rest and for the third time in nine days against probably the best lineup in baseball evens this one out. Advantage- Push
Bullpen
Feldman-Dotel- Advantage Rangers
Holland- Rzepcynski- Advantage Rangers
CJ Wilson vs- Rhodes- Advantage Rangers
Ogando-Salas- Advantage Rangers big
Adams- Lynn- Advantage Rangers big
Feliz- Motte- Advantage Rangers
Bullpen breakdown- The Rangers have a huge statistical advantage in the bullpen and are full healthy. Lynn and Salas are probably no go's tonight which puts a lot more pressure on Chris Carpenter. Im sure he can handle it mentally, but can he physically handle pitching on short rest and the third game on 9 days against this Ranger offense? History tells us no. The Rangers havefour All--Star pitchers in there bullpen (Wilson, Ogando, Feliz, Adams) and Derek Holland who has been brilliant is good for an inning or two. Major edge to the Rangers here in what will probably decide the game.
