I'm on the Mets today because Philly has nothing left to play for, and has shown it with their 3 - 7 win - loss record over the last 10 games.

The Mets were beaten in every series they played against Philly this season, and Dickey is about as good a pitcher as Hamels.

I don't handicap totals, but I expect this game to be low-scoring.

also no pagan in the lineup for the Mets tonight, and Manuel is going to start playing the playoff lineup this series at some point, I think the phils bounce back tonight.

...but seriously, dickey is as good as hamels?....what? lol

Well, I was a little surprised myself, given Hamels' reputation. Here are the season numbers:

Hamels: W:L 18 - 12; WHIP .98; ERA: 2.80

Dickey: W:L 14 - 17; WHIP: 1.25; ERA: 3.35 (which are good stats)

Last 3 games:

Hamels: W:L 1 - 2; WHIP: 1.10; ERA: 4.29

Dickey: W:L 1 - 2: WHIP: 1.11; ERA: 1.25

Hamels has given up 7 HR's in his last 4 outings, which is 1.75 homers per outing. Dickey has given up just 1 HR in his last 4 outings. Dickey has not allowed more than 3 earned runs in any of his last 10 outings.

The defense rests.

Howard and Pence should be back.  Plus the Phillies have always pounded the Mets in Sept.  Usually it&#x27;s to crush their playoff asspirations.  So since the Mets aren&#x27;t in the playoff hunt, Phillies may cut them some slack.

I want to play the Mets, but I fell lucky to have won with them yesterday.  I think backing them again will not give the same results

howard and pence are playing. the only starter not in the lineup tonight is utley, valdez is playing 2nd batting 8th.
