I'm not concerned at all about Beckett's injury. He's had plenty of rest and not pitching in the All Star game was a wise choice regardless if "he couldn't get loose" or not. Just no reason to take any chances in an All Star Game AND I was on the National Leauge so glad he sat.
- Home team is 2-5 head to head 2011
- Boston 11-2 last 13 games and Tampa has lost 3 of 4
- Beckett has been dominating this year with a 0.95 WHIP and a 2.27 ERA.
- Beckett hasn't allowed an ER to Tampa in his last 2 starts and only 1 in his last 21 innings to Tampa, in these 3 games he has K'd18, walked 2 and 0 HRS.
- Boston is 12-5 when Beckett starts
- Tampa starter Jeff Nieman has pitched fantastic in his last 2 starts only allowing 1 run each to Yankees and Cards.
- Nieman has been hit hard by Boston in the past....and that's before the addition of Adrian Gonzalez this season. Nieman has given up 13 ER's in 17 innings lifetime against Boston.
- Boston vs. TB last 10 bullpen ERA is concerning for Tampa. Boston 1.86 vs. TB 4.26
- Boston 20-5 3rd game of series vs. TB 17-8
- Boston 13-1 after a win going in the 3rd game of a series vs. TB 6-4 after loss going in the 3rd game
