So the guy throws a power play at management because his team is finally winning a few games ? Where was Riggleman demanding a contract extension when the Nationals were 10 games under .500 in May ? Good for management for not making an ill-advised decision based on just a 2 week stretch of games.

Riggleman looks like a douche. Bail on your team when they starting to show promise. Shows that he didn't really care about the team at all. Just wanted a fat check. I bet the team will be better without him.

Selfish move by him, and I could see the Nats struggling for a bit now after being bailed on like that. Kinda like your dad walking out on you and your mom when you&#x27;re a kid. Might be time to fade the Nats while they&#x27;re favorites for a week.

I think everyone is being a little hard on riggleman. Based on everything the GM said, they weren't gonna pick up his contract anyways, might as well step down now then wait til your team finishes above .500 and you get let go in the offseason because you're not the answer going forward.

It was clearly one of those I wanna talk about my future as the nats manager, and the GM didnt wanna, so riggleman said if i'm not the guy going forward i'll leave before it gets good.

What does that even mean? Betting perspective...So you are assuming they will win more games? yea because the whole idea of having managers is the put a ceiling on the talent the team has.MANAGER - to manageIt&#x27;s like French lessons, in this case, its the literal translation.

Riglgleman did not give an ultimatum, he wanted to discuss picking up his option for some time now even before the streak. The man had a year to year contract and took alot of shit form GM Rizzo. I applaud Riggleman for being a man of his word and stepping down after the game like he said he would.

Riggleman has been wanting discussion since the preseason. If you believe him, he flat out told Rizzo unless you are willing to give me that extension, expect me to walk at sometime this season. Be prepared. When the team finally broke .500 for first time in forever, it was the perfect time to offer him the extension if it was meant to be. If not, then the writing on the wall was that Riggleman was not in the plans for next season. So Riggleman told Rizzo before the 1-0 Mariners game he was resigning and requested to talk to the team. But Rizzo wouldn't let him, saying that he was no longer employed for the Nationals. I listened to the interview with Rizzo and he (Rizzo) to me came across sounding like an ass. He really had no answer for why he wouldn't discuss an extension with Riggleman. Just kept saying "he wasn't ready". So right or wrong, I don't blame the manager for walking. Who wants to work for someone that doesn't see you in the cards for the future?
