Great Owner...he does whatever is in his power to produce a winning team for his fans.
And he has done SOOOOOO much more for the team since he "stepped down" as owner and gave it to Hal. Much more than people think.

Yet he'll let Jeter make his own contract when his current one expires.

If Steinbrenner was the owner of, say, the Reds when they were the "Big Red Machine", he would make sure that franchise never hit rock bottom. The money he had coming into the Yankees' franchise was insane and he spent it to get big names, to attract fans. He made trades to get big names to attract fans. Fans are attracted to winning teams(expect in Florida). The more fans, the more revenue. The more revenue, the more money. The more money, the big name free agents. The more free agents, the more fans keep coming.
I'm not going to go any further on this topic because like I mentioned before...arguing to jpero is like talking to a brick wall, and this arguement is irrelevant because we will never know.

Exactly...I think, with the money he had when he bought the Yankees, he could have turned another franchise around.
Here is what I'm saying...if he bought any other franchise at the time he bought the Yankees, that team, right now, would have a bigger revenue income than it has right now maybe with the exception of about 2-3 teams.
