Oli has an inflated ERA of 7.03 this year, but you have to remember, he was banged up to start the season after playing in the World Baseball Classic like many other players. After racking up a 15.45 ERA in April and May before going on the DL, he came back in July and has had an ERA of just over 4.50 ever since in five starts. He's given up between 2-4 runs in each of those last five starts and went either 5 or 6 innings deep each time. He has been shockingly consistent, unbeknownst to many paying only casual attention.
Now here is tonight against the worst offense in Major League Baseball in the San Diego Padres. Going into last night's game, these Padres had lost 3 of their last 4 and scored a total of five runs combined in those three losses. All of a sudden they scored seven earned on Hernandez in the first game of the series and that's not a trend I expect to continue tonight.
The Mutts came into the series last night having scored 32 runs in their previous 5 games before the newly acquired and hot Clayton Richard who had given up three earned runs in his last three starts. New York only got off three off him but I see them getting back on track offensively against Correia. He's looked a little shaky recently, giving up 8 ER in only 3-and-a-third a couple starts ago against the Phillies. Oli, on the other hand, hasn't given up more than 4 earned since April.
Metropolitans get it done tonight. In a matchup of two bad teams, I'll take the slightly worse team with the better price.
Good luck tonight folks.

I'm putting my faith in Oliver Perez today.
That Oliver Perez?
Nah, not that Oliver Perez.

sounds convincing, can you tell me who is gonna score all the runs for the mets tonight? before mets were all on the dl Corrieria held the mets to a 2 era over 2 games, now that half their players are on the dl, can you give me a list of players that will hit the ball past the infield?

The same banged up Mets who chased Kyle Lohse out of the game on Wednesday after 2 and two-thirds innings scoring five against him, even though he had allowed only ONE earned run against their healthy lineup in April.
