My only play today since it is my play of the week...
Washington scored 9 runs in three games at NYY and stil won the series outscoring the Yankees 9-7. This same Nationals team was swept at TB before the NYY series but was outhit in only one game and lost two of those three games by a single run. And before facing TB they won one vs Cincinatti and lost one by a single run and another one in exta innings. They are the worst team in baseball but they are competitive lately, thanks to their pitching. Zimmerman with his 60 K and 16 BB in 57 innings pitched this season is about to turn his season around. In his last two starts he allowed 3 earned runs in 11 innings pitched. He will face a Blue Jays team that exploded with 23 runs in 3 games in Philly. But the Blue Jays are probably the most inconsistent team in the majors this season. I mean c'mon, how do you get swept by the Marlins at home while scoring 11 runs in three games and then go on the road and sweep the world champs while scoring 23 runs in three games. We have seen this shit from the Jays many times this season. This series reminds me a lot of when the Jays hit the road after sweeping CWS in 4 games in May, only to go 0-9 on the trip. They are sending Tallet on the mound and he has been just as inconsistent as his offense lately. After 6 quality starts in may, he started the month of June with 5 earned runs allowed against LAA. Then he allowed 2 hits and no runs in 7 innings of work against Texas, only to follow that effort with an absolute hammering against Florida when he was chased out of the game with 8 runs allowed in less than 4 innings pitched. He never pitched more than 62 innings in a season since joining the majors and so far this season he pitched in 77 innings. He is in unknown territory. Expect more early exits for him from now on and maybe even a retourn to the pen. Toronto won his first two starts but lost 7 of his last 10.
TAKE WASHINGTON AND THANK ME LATER
