Took a couple days off to clear my head from the bad picks, was a pretty relaxing couple of days too. I don't have my record or units right now since I am typing this from my mother's place, which is where I am killing time till my next work appointment at 3pm. I could easily go get it by looking at my last day's picks but I'm putting off doing that till I have to - which will be tonight after I get home from the Jays' game. My pinny account is still twice what is was on April 6th tho......
7:05pm: St. Louis Cardinals ML (-110) for 1 unit
Zach Duke goes for the Pirates. I like this kid in almost any spot, except this one. Through eleven career starts against the Cards, he's 3-5 with a 4.20 ERA & .325 Opposing Average. Was roughed up for four runs on six hits & two walks in 5.1 innings against St Louis in his last start. Todd Wellemeyer has seen the Pirates nineteen times including eight starts going 5-2 with a 3.77 ERA & .241 Opposing Average. Held the Bucs to two runs in seven innings of work last week. Losing streak hits nine for Pirates.
7:05pm: Tampa Bay/Baltimore Over 10.5 (+103) for 1 unit
Mark Hendrickson brings out his hefty 5.13 ERA yet again. If you include the unearned runs he's surrendered, his ERA would be 7.86! A career 4.47 ERA & .264 Opposing Average against the Rays is decent but believe it or not, I actually only want 4, maybe 5 runs from the Rays. Andy Sonnanstine is the best part of this bet. A gawdy 5.79 ERA to start. In six career starts against the Orioles, he has a 7.11 ERA, 1.80 WHIP & .344 Opposing Average. That's just plain nasty!
7:07pm: Toronto Blue Jays -1 (+105) for 2 units
You had to see this one coming. The emotion at this game should be at the highest since the 1993 World Series - that's how much hype there is in Toronto for this one. Halladay is a career 15-5 with a 2.86 ERA, 1.12 WHIP & .239 Opposing Average against the Yanks. He's beat them five straight times. Yes, Burnett shut out the Jays in a complete game way back when he was a Marlin but this is a much different Burnett now. He's shit the bed a few times this year & I honestly think that with the kind of personality Burnett has, he'll psych himself out, come out and toss a stinker tonight. Besides, I'll take Halladay at plus money every chance I get.
10:05pm: Kansas City/Oakland Over 8.5 (-106) for 1 unit
I don't know why this line is so low. Luke Hochevar makes his first start of the year. A career 5.21 ERA & .276 Opposing Average. Only time he saw Oakland, they roughed him up for six runs on nine hits & three walks in 4.2 innings. That's an 11.57 ERA, 2.57 WHIP & .391 Opposing Average. Trevor Cahill goes for Oakland and he's had a decent start to his career with a 3.82 ERA but we're talking about a guy who has given up eighteen walks to just twelve strikeouts. Sooner or later teams will solve this guy and whack him around for 4-5 runs like the Rays did.

think the line is so low because of the #1 and #2 ranked bullpens in MLB, A's are the worst offensive team also, maybe a couple of reasons why, my first inclination was over also but have not yet decided

With the exception of his little 7 run blip against the Rays, Cahill is yet to give up over 2 runs. Unfortunately for him, he seems to get little run support. Four of his six starts the A's have scored 3, 2, 2, and 0.
Hochevar is 5-0 in 6 Triple A starts in Omaha with an ERA below 1. Kid was a former number 1 overall pick and I expect him to start to get it together. He's shown signs before but like so many guys doesn't have the consistency yet. Add in the fact that I don't think the Royals can hit on the road. 4 total runs while getting swept in Anaheim.
I can see why the total is 8.5. Have to lean against you here

Was already on STL and TOR and I will take a strong look at TB/BAL over now. I too have to lean against the KC over but I will cheer for ya and hope it comes in. The NYY/TOR game should be a real fun one. Doc always gets up for these games too. I am really looking forward to this game. BOL and great to see ya back!!!
