DUNEDIN, Fla. -- Blue Jays center fielder Vernon Wells is expected to
be sidelined a month after straining his left hamstring on Monday at
the Bobby Mattick Training Center. Wells left Toronto's complex to
undergo an MRI exam to further evaluate the damage.
"Right now, preliminarily, I'd say he's going to miss four weeks," Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi said.
Wells had two stints on the disabled list last season, including
one for the same hamstring last July. The 30-year-old center fielder
finished the season batting .300 with 20 home runs and 78 RBIs, but he
spent 52 games on the DL. He also fractured his left wrist in May of
last season.

god damnit.. im a jays fan and this shit always happens... just an unlucky team.. but 4 weeks means he should be ready for opening day... last season if we could of gotten ANY hitting we would been right in the playoff hunt.. that would have been a dangerous playoff team with the pitching we had.. i can;t remember ever seeing a team lose mroe 1 run games than the jays last year.. it was ridiculous.. so many 3-2 or 2-1 losses..

No he won't be on the DL to start the year. JP said he will be in the lineup opening day, if his hamstring is still bugging him at all he will just DH to open the year.

Jeff Blair updated his Twitter thing 2 hours ago saying JP said the Jays wouldn't have the results of the MRI until Tuesday but the max was 6 weeks. Not like JP has ever lied about injuries before.

Hmmm... lets see, a player who lost all his power in one year and whose body no longer has the ability to fight off any injury. I wonder what juice he was drinking.

The Jays are a flip-floppy team. Its either all hitting, or all pitching. Last year it was the majors best pitching staff, couple years before it was one of the most dangerous lineups with glaus and wells cranking them out. This year it looks like it might be back to offence, as the teams pitching isnt looking no where near as potent as last year, with just halladay and litsch ready for open day. But the bullpen is gonna be top notch!! Ryan and Accardo are gonna be healthy, and casey janssen is back in the mix.
