I cannot wait until April, so we can begin to fade this joke of a rotation.
 
OMG. LOL.
 
So, Rockies have 2 mainstays and... thats about it. This is keeping in mind that Francis had a slightly "off" year in 2008.
 
 

1. RHP Aaron Cook

2. RHP Ubaldo Jimenez

3. LHP Jorge De La Rosa

4. RHP Jason Marquis

5. LHP Greg Smith

Me? I look at how good a pitcher can be, and how bad they can be. Not saying make your own average. But water seeks its own level, add 1 run to the ERA for Coors Field, and there you go.
 
Keep in mind, Jimenez lead the league in wins for pitchers named "Ubaldo"

Well, yeah. Greg Smith had a very nice start last season and easily have #2 material.
 
Marquis will forever be a #5. He might serve better as a bridge man in the bullpen but you also don't want to have him go mental on ya in the locker room by moving him out of the rotation.
 
Ubaldo was very good late in the season, i recall.
 
Of course, i'm not saying they're all automatic fades, because we don't know who the opposing pitchers or club yet.
 
But the Rockies are going to be underdogs in lots of matchups.

Being a Cubs fan all i can say is that Marquis will be good for overs in Coors because he will get lit up out there.

Have to agree they are going to be dogs often... maybe some good potential for bettors to make money out of it.

Jimenez was good in 1st 5innings late in the season

Marquis totals are never going to be less than 10.5 at Coors Field.

Whats the deal with Francis?  Is he out for an extended period?  I don't think its that bad of a rotation.  Jiminez, Cook and Francis all have front of the rotation potential.

You know, Marquis could have a great season hitting wise in Colorado. He has always been a fairly good hitter for a pitcher. I could see him with 3 or 4 HR's this season.

As for the rotation that is not a great looking rotation. Franklin Morales could surprise some people though. I remember him being highly thought of as a prospect and see he had a decent season in '07

Franklin Morales, exactly Dther...him and Jimenez have the kind of stuff that can anchor a rotation...while it doesn't look good on paper, there's definately alot of potential there

The A's didn't have an All-Star rotation either. They just kept using these new guys including Smith. Eveland, Braden, Mayer, Gonzalez, Duchscherer. Eveland and Duchscherer were the ones with success more than the others but Jiminez is a really good pitcher, and stated before, Morales is still around. He was pitching in the postseason in 2007 you can't forget. Obviously they won't be the best team in the West, maybe not even in the top 3 with the Padres, Giants, and DBacks probably fighting for the final spot this year and the Rockies will fight for 4th with the Dodgers, but they won't play horrible ball and could be a scary team at the end of a season to determine who gets into the playoffs within that division. Consider them to be like a "DEVIL" Rays team who was always a pain in the ass to face when trying to clinch a division. For the Yankees anyway.

I think the Padres got the cellar sealed up for that division. Check our their depth chart on their site. That team is absolutely pathetic on paper.

You really think that? They were below average last season but I doubt Vegas will inflate their opponents lines though.

True...but look at what we've learned by "paper" stats. I do agree though, it's basically the DBacks division to lose but the Giants will be up there for sure.

kinda early to be making any conclusions on how good Colorado's staff will be.....
 
My guess is they will be pretty average.....
 
But I would at least include Francis, Greg Reynolds and Franklin Morrales when talkin about possible impact starters for the Rockies
 
Jimenez could be ready to break out and Cook seems to be steady
 
 The Dodgers not playing in the World Series in over 20 years ........

if there season win line is set at like over under 68 im pounding it. Even with Peavy and chris Young healthy all season it would be tough for them to get 70 wins.

I bet if they start tankin at beginning they will be lookin to move 1 of them if not both

that's the best rotation in the history of the team, and if Francis gets healthy, it will be even better. Without Holiday, they are going to have to hit, but maybe Stewart and Atkins will have stellar years.
