Every year I've bet on baseball, I've based it on pitching. I do this because I find it incredibly difficult to follow 30 teams, knowing every move they make roster-wise.
What if 30 cappers were to join forces, each capper picking a team. Then ever yday, all 30 cappers would make a post about their team, what they think of that day's matchups and then we could all look over the 30 posts and make more educated decisions.
Far fetched cause it would take 30 people to stick to it all year. BTW, I'd have Toronto.

Not a terrible idea and it would promote what these forums are SUPPOSED to be about... helping eachother out. To many people just post their picks without any write up or thoughts.
The problem I see with your idea is with 30 people at least a few would bail out just a few days in and slowly more and more.
Something that may work would be one person per division. Although tracking 6 teams would be tough....
No matter what it would be difficult. Try a person per team and even if there aren't 30 participants atleast you could have some insight on maybe half the teams.
How will you prevent some shmuck coming in and saying he knows something about a team but he really knows nothing??
- I do like the idea though, good time to start trying to work something out before the season. Maybe you are on to something. You know I frequent the baseball forum Revenge... I would probably be able to keep a close eye on my Pirates.

I think this is a great idea...I am always looking for ways to get an edge on my capping. I'd be willing to do Cleveland or I could be in reserve to pick up a team should someone drop out. I would appreciate any information someone posting on a team they follow closely has to offer---who knows it could push a close "no-bet" to a bet or cause me to raise my wager on a game I had already capped.
Baseball is arriving!

Obviously like you everybody is going to pick their team. And one of the hardest things about betting on sports is being objective in betting on your team. I try to avoid it at all costs. But if you didn't choose a team you were interested in and don't watch a significant amount of games the whole thing loses its value.

Good idea in theory but ....

maybe a new yorker could do a better job then someone living in the armpit
How does me being in Jersey affect that? Did they start a blackout in NJ for Mets games? Nice try but appreciate the effort if that was the best you could come up with.

Looking good so far folks, 10 teams taken, 20 still available.
I'm thinking that instead of posting every day, we can post every series. Sort of a "Series Outlook". But if an injury happens, then you've gotta re-post to make sure everyone knows.

I'll take Tampa. I watched 80-90% of their games last year, as I had them at 80-1 to win the WS and a big wager on them to go over 74.5 wins. I'm really interested to see how they'll react this year to having higher expectations.
