Remember those obstruction calls ? Those tons of PP's we had in every game ? My many rants about I don't want to watch a game that is a constant PP ?

Things have went back to the norm for sure.

Take a look at this chart. Our high of 6.17 goals and 5.8 PP's per team per game. Yes that's per team per game so you can multiply that 5.8 times 2. Is now down to 5.48 goals a game and 3.4 PP's per team per game. Times two of course.

Are players just learning not to obstruct though ? More dangerous hits from behind and the speed some people are being hit and hurt would suggest that. Could be why PP&#x27;s are down, players have learned not to get in the way, only problem is it is causing an injury epidemic leaving people exposed for high speed blindside hits.

P.S I dont think it helps that every coach is defence first now, if you dont let any goals in you cant loose right?  PLay the trap and wait for mistakes!

&#xD;&#xA;Breakaways and odd man rushes (2 on 1s, and 3 on 1s in particular) are the most exciting plays of the game. Yet even though I don&#x27;t watch but a game or two of hockey a week, I&#x27;ve noticed these exciting scoring opportunities have become few and far between. I wonder if it&#x27;s somehow related to the trap where defensemen really don&#x27;t forecheck anymore ?

Yes I do have a very good feeling that players have adapted to the new rules and it is defence first or sit on my bench, I think that is one big time factor!
