I don't think anyone who hasn't suffered from severe depression can even begin to imagine the agony and hopelessness the sufferer experiences - and shouldn't even try... its gotta be pretty fucking intense.

Ya lets turn this game into soccer.. So if a guy touches another guy lets give him a suspension.. That's gonna solve everything.. It's thoughts like these that will turn this game into soccer.. There is nothing 'Macho' about bodychecking guys off the puck.. It takes the guy out of the play and gives your team energy.. It's the same with fighting.. I don't agree with staged fights but to take out 'pure fights' and energy out of the game for the fans and players is just ludacris.. Your just going to get more 'punks' in the game like Matt Cooke.. He'll run around nail a fucking guy and no one can do anything about it cuz you 'can't fight'.. Thats insane.. If your taking fighting outta the game your taking hitting outta the game and you might as well play 'no touch' hockey.. Seriously.. This isn't the way to solve a problem.. Especially when this has NOTHING to do with Rypien.. He wasn't just a big goon he could skate and had speed and was tough.. And his depression had nothing to do with this..
Just another overreaction from people.. There are ways to fix the game that don't include TAKING THINGS AWAY! Put rules into place.. Take out the instigator rule.. No staged fights off the face off or your out for the game.. Stuff like that.. Not 'no fighting'.. That would do so much damage to the game..
There are gonna be unintentional hits to the head - if there is bodychecking in hockey.. Guys are anywhere from 5'3 to 6'8 there is no way to prevent hits to the head.. Hits from the blindeside to the head can be prevented with suspensions.. And I agree with punishing severely for those.. But square hits I say let it go.. Or ruin hockey..
