Give Philly a break, it's the closest that city will come to any kind of hardware ( unless they have steroids taking relievers on their team )

Richards just picked it up and brought to the dressing room no celebration on the ice just in the dressing room! I like what he did.

according to the Versus yaps, NOT touching the Conference Championship Trophy "tradition" started when in 1997 when Eric Lindros didn't touch the Prince of Wales trophy because "it's NOT the trophy we want". they went on to be SWEPT by the Detroit Red Wings.

two years ago, Sidney Crosby didn't handle the Prince of Wales trophy and they lost to the Red Wings in 6. last year Crosby carried it around and they WON the CUP.

it's just a bullshit superstition NOT a tradition. to be a "tradition" I think you would have to go back to at least the first expansion from the old "6 team league" when NHL conferences were formed.

and ANYTHING Eric Lindros EVER did should definately NOT be an NHL "tradition"

Maybe 5 for fighting has forgotten that the Yankees probably accounted for 50+ % of BALCO's invoices for the last 15 years.

Scott Stevens picked it up and took a picture with it all 3 times the Devils won the cup...in 2001 he didnt

I believe the captain of the flyers is M. Richards, as in Mike, not Brad Richards.  Anyways, it is personal choice, but most have not touched it, though as was pointed out earlier, Crosby touched it last year because he was encouraged by Lemieux to do so, as Lemieux touched it when he was a captain the first time they won a cup.

Good for Richards. I would've touched it too. Don't shave your face...fair enough. But not touching a trophy because you think you might jinx yourself from winning the bigger trophy? Utterly ridiculous, IMO.
