I'll ride the Hawks at home once again. They average an NHL best 3.9 goals per game at home. They have scored 3+ in 8 out of their last 9 home games and the 1 game they didnt score three was played against the Bruins and Tim Thomas who is the best goaltender in the league. They have scored 25 goals in their last 5 home games (5 gpg) that werent against Tim Thomas. The Sharks have allowed 21 goals in their last 6 road games (3.5 gpg) and that was with a shutout mixed in. That shutout came against the worst offense in the NHL. They have allowed 3+ to their opponent in 5 of their last 6 road games. If you take out the shutout vs an offensively challenged Tampa Bay team they have allowed 4.2 gpg over their last 5 road games. Brian Boucher has posted some good numbers overall this year but 5 of his 6 games came against teams in the bottom half of the league offensively. The one that didnt was against Nashville and they put up 4 goals in that game. Also, in his last road game, Phoenix put up 4 goals on the Sharks. The guy has played well, dont get me wrong, but I just think his numbers are a bit skewed. This will be his toughest test of the season and i'll side with the best home offense in the league.
The Thrashers have allowed their opponents to score 3+ in 7 of 8 road ganes this year. Opponents average 3.9 gpg in those 8 games. The Flyers have scored 3+ in 6 of their 7 home games and they average 3.3 gpg in their home games. These two team met a couple week ago and the Flyers put up 7 on Atlanta. Hedberg should go again and opponets have scored 17 goals in his 4 road starts (3 and 2/3 worth of game action). He's given up 24 goals in his last 4 2/3 worth of game action on the road. The Flyers have scored 3+ goals in 14 out of their last 15 against Atlanta. I'm not going to take the Flyers to win because of the juice and because Atlanta has won 5 in a row, but a crazy stat here...The Thrashers are 3-26-2 in their last 31 vs Philly.
