Spurs/Lakers Game 1

+1375 this week so far, a little over 18k for the playoffs
Nice win on Boston last night

Monday night I wrote that the Spurs have the ability to shut down any NBA team or score point for point against any NBA team. In this game the Lakers will dictate the pace of the game.
Most bettors will think the lay over at the airport will affect San Antonio in a negative way. Hell, its all over ESPN and their (H)experts agree the Spurs will have an issue. My take on that situation is the Spurs have an EXTRA 3 HOURS REST TONIGHT. They will not be affected.
With that said and the Lakers looking to move the ball up and down the court I see this game going over the total of 196. I also think the Spurs have a very, very good chance at taking this game. I put this in already but I have a feeling the total will continue to go down so get the best #.

I seen them put up 91 in a Game 7 situation. I also saw them go 19-21 from the free throw line. As for the Lakers they're getting on average 75 shot attempts and are getting to the free throw line over 30 times per game.

The Spurs will not win this game, period.
The total will not go over 188, period.

gl kid! I like the Spurs at +7 but the moneyline is a stretch after an emotional game 7 win and a rested Lakers team at home. small play for me.

that was game 7 when they knew they had to win or go home against a Hornets team that has no playoff experience

Lakers have been playing the Utah Jazz and Nuggets both teams who like to get up and down the court with little to no defense... I see the Lakers scoring between 90-100 and Spurs scoring 80-90

Everyone thought the Celtics would roll over and play dead tonight but instead they rolled to a 9 point win which should of been a 12 point win if Prince didn't hit a meaningless 3 at the buzzer.

They faced each other 4 times this year and one team has been in the hundreds each game. I don't see that changing tonight.

Game 1 of the Conference Finals is used to set your mark
for the rest of the Series, not to be an offensive explosion.
The emphasis will be set on Defense, combined with
LA being rested (possible slow start) and SA just ending
a seven game Series (tired) the correct play is Under.
I say this with all due respect to your insight, you are going to
go 0-2 tomorrow.

Dog, did you here the story about the nightmare the spurs had at the airport trying to get home or to Los Angeles??  No way in hell the sperms win this one....i will put my mortgage on the lakers ml all fucking day kid.

chillitokid, even though I disagree that that horrible travel story won't have effects to their situation, let's talk different issues then.

Forget the travel story. Doesn't exist. Never happened (for the sake of the argument)


The Spurs play lousy on such a short rest. They managed to compensate for that against Phoenix, early in the playoffs, fresher legs and an opponent they like to beat up.

The Hornets beat them by 20 (19, 18 and 22 I think) in the first three home games.

The Lakers had more to rest.

I am very far from being a Laker fan. I'm not a Spurs fan either but I respect the Spurs a lot. I would like them to go through here, and I'm not saying they don't have a chance, I'm saying it will hardly happen in Game 1.

Lakers win this game 1 the points could very well play in the 2H but no way SPURS come into LA and win game 1. How can you justify a ML SPURS play here ?  Hornets rolled them for 3 home games by double digits. You think cause they won an elimination game 7 now they will just all of sudden win on the road ? It would be a shocker but Lakers playing very well right now. GL>

Kid..If you read my thread from last night which is now on page four of this forum, you'll see that I took Boston -4.5 for a moderate wager. I also took the Spurs on the ml in game 7 against the Hornets. I understand your comparison between the two games but the Celts we're playing at home and the Spurs are on the road.

I think Eva will be a distraction in game, since it's being played in L.A. Tony can't play with wood all game...he'd just want the game to be over to go back to her house and bang her....

Have to agree here...Spurs in LA dont exactly light it up.

LA looks like the play here and maybe the under as well.

Rest can work both ways and negatively affect a team. A team that is rolling then has 3-4 days off generally plays poorly. Now, I said generally and it does not mean all the time. Detroit had more rest and Boston controlled the tempo of the game last night. With a day off between games pro caliber athletes don't tire. They are in great shape. Pierce said it correctly after last nights game: Prince is an excellent player but he's no LeBron. Prince doesn't compare physically with James and that is why Pierce did not get tired last night as compared to Sunday. Also, don't play into the Hornets series because its over. This game has nothing to do with the Hornets.

The Spurs straight up were 2-2 vs LA tis season and lost one game without Duncan. I'll be back online before gametime but now its Coors Light time, my fishing rod, a nice girl (a-hem), and a boat

Simple, the Lakers will face an actual big man, the Spurs played the Lakers tough this season losing both games with key players on injury, Duncan and Parker on 12/13 and Ginobili on 4/13.
Is Kobe still hurting? Billips said he is full strenght and he looked awful to me last night.
I've also heard the Hornets rolled the Spurs 3 times in the playoffs but when everything was on the line the Hornets got rolled. My thoughts tonight and throughout the playoffs is the team that wins the game will also cover the spread.
