Question

I see a lot of people around various internet message boards that actually think the Chicago Bulls, lead by Scott Skiles, are not only division title contenders but championship contenders?

That's hilarious. Guys actually think a team lead by a guy that shouldnt even be an NBA head coach, an undersized backcourt that cannot guard big guards, and no interior scoring can win in a much improved Eastern Conference?

Michael Jordan led Chicago Bulls teams were the last teams to win an NBA title without a post that could score down low, which wasnt really a problem because Michael was a great low post scorer.

This Chicago Bulls team? Won't even sniff an NBA Championship.

Maybe guys are banking on Ben Gordon and Luol Deng to play great during their contract years? Thinking Ben Wallace will prove he's not a bust? Hope Joakim Noah, Thabo Sefaloshia, Joe Smith, Duhon, and Nocioni will prove to be a great 2nd unit? Sorry fellas, but it's not happening.

This team reminds me of the Hubie Brown led Grizzlies team. Only difference is that Gasol could score down low.

So why are guys penciling in the Bulls as the number 1-2-3 teams in the Eastern conference? Is it because of gambling value? Well that has to be the only reason because they have as much chance of winning the East as the Toronto Raptors.

Whodeys &amp; tjm,Don&#x27;t get me wrong, the Bulls have a good team.  A 50 win team.  A playoff team.  A 2nd round playoff team?  A championship team?  A division winning team? The only reason this post was made was because I saw guys actually throwing money on Bulls&#x27; futures.  Guys actually thinking Chicago could finish first in the East.  This site is about saving and making money right?  Well, it&#x27;s sad to see guys throwing their&#x27;s away.There is more than 1 legit championship contender in the East.  The Bulls just arent one of them.

I agree I don&#x27;t see them making the NBA championship but may contend and make the eastern conference finals depending on if they trade for Kobe or not which I think they would give up way to much but thats the besides the point I agree your right just put GO BULLS because they are my favorite team thats all.  A lot of young talent there just missing one piece and they will be there.  Don&#x27;t sleep on that team just yet.  Especially when contending for the east, the east is very weak.

Just like my Spurs future to win the West last season early in the playoffs was a bad bet as well??  Yeah.&#xD;&#xA;I did throw a unit on the Bulls at 11 to 1 to win it all.  Its a shot.  It has value IMO.  I think they are right there with the best  teams in the East.  Who is better?   Miami?  No Way.  Boston?  They should own this team.  Cleveland?  Haha.  Detroit?  Maybe, but they have very little inside game as well.  Toronto(like you mentioned?)  Probably Chicagos biggest challenger.  And yes, Orlando, Washington and Jersey should be there, but how can someone say the Bulls CANT beat all of these teams.   They should be right there.   Gun to my head, they lose to Phoenix is 6 games.

Without Wallace to solidify their D, they wouldnt even make it out of the first round.Now that Gordon and Deng know they aren&#x27;t going to get the dollars they sought out in extensions, hopefully they&#x27;ll quit crying and start to produce.On a related note - Watching the Fakers play Tuesday and the Bulls Wednesday, I&#x27;m not sure either team would upgrade or downgrade the talent their SG positions making a trade.  Hope Paxson isn&#x27;t dumb enough to pull the trigger on a deal.

The East is brutal. The Bulls have just as much chance as any other East contender to win the East. Bulls are much better off without the cancer that is Kobe.

agreement...i also was kind of suprised by all this bull love...nothing has really changed with that team, all their scoring comes from the perimeter and that obviously dont get the job done come playoff time....they always look good in the regular season  cause they D up like its the playoffs...the problem is come playoff time, everybody locks down on D, then they are fucked.

A lot of people seem to be assuming that Luol Deng and Tyrus Thomas are going to be making the leap this year.

Though I consider it possible, that's a pretty wild assumption. If one or the other or both fail to make said leap, the Bulls are 2nd round playoff fodder at best.

0-2Already in the hole, losing their home opener by double digits to the Philadelphia 76ers.  Paxson squashed the Bryant trade rumors, so what was the excuse tonight?  How can the Bulls be a conference championship contender, getting beat handidly by a team that will probably only win 29 more games the rest of the year and finish last in their division?gfinger,The East is improved now with some of the better players coming to the conference.  What makes you think the Bulls have a chance when they will probably finish 3rd in their division?dad,You&#x27;re right.  As I posted in my initial analysis, it&#x27;s damn near impossible to win in the playoffs without someone that can score in the post.  The Bulls dont have that and that&#x27;s why they&#x27;ll struggle.  Jump shooting can go hot or cold and in the playoffs, when those sphincters start tightening up, if you can&#x27;t get easy buckets, you&#x27;re in trouble.wcm,Thomas has no skill and needs a Jason Kidd/Steve Nash type PG to maximize his potential.  Kirk Hinrich is solid but not they type that will bring out the best in a player.  Luol Deng is starting out slow but he better pick it up soon if he wants the big money next year.

So by your logic that means that either the Hawks will win the east or the Mavs wont be able to compete with the east because they cant even beat the Hawks. Take a look at history, the Bulls never start off well in the first month of the season. I have made a lot of money fade'ing the Bulls in the beginning of the year and then riding them during their hot streak. Happens year after year.

Neither advanced past the 2nd round of the playoffs.&#xD;&#xA;The statement I made was never doubting the Bulls ability to make the playoffs but doubting their status as a championship contender.  I dont think think they&#x27;re a division championship contender.&#xD;&#xA;Not enough in the post and not enough coming from the bench.  The Bulls are a perimeter team but they&#x27;re perimeter players aren&#x27;t top tier.&#xD;&#xA;They messed up by giving up one of their bigs.  Tyson Chandler or Eddy Curry would be huge upgrades over anything they have at PF or C.

1-4Home victory over the Detroit Pistons.  Not an impressive win, but a win is a win.They should improve to 2-4 with a win over the Raptors in their next game.If they can&#x27;t beat Euronto at home, a team they&#x27;ve owned over the years, then they&#x27;re going to have to shake things up a bit.
