- Pacer's
game plan last year could have been fine-tuned for playing against the
big 3. Take Bosh out and then the original gameplan is altered which is
not always going to be able to be adjusted as easy...I think the problem
last year for Pacers is that they could not adjust to Miami's "plan b"
(playing w/o Bosh), All we know is that Pacers couldn't adjust to plan
B...so this year while Miami has the big 3 in tact, we can find out what
we didn't get to find out last year, will Pacers strategy for the Big 3
prevail?
- This Pacers team is more dangerous than people think. They kinda remind me of that Pistons team that took out my Lakers in 2004 which consisted of KOBE, SHAQ, Gary PAYTON, Karl MALONE, and a supporting cast that would murder Miami's...and they still got handled by the Pistons who didn't have a standout star, but a bunch of talented workhorses who come to do their job. They were not intimidated by the hype. They shut that Laker team down 4-1..not saying that Miami is not gonna take this series, but I am saying that they are not just going to roll over the Pacers double-digit style.
Detroit Pistons team
Chauncey @ PG - Chauncy started to finally emerge as the leader he had become during this run.
Hamilton @ SG- Not a superstar scorer, but COULD score and got you buckets when it counted and played good defense
Tyshawn Prince @- Quiet work horse type player that gets you good offense, good defense
Rasheed
Wallace- Player with finesse and toughness, another work horse type
that gave you good offense and defense and had a plethora of offensive
weapons.
Ben Wallace @ C- Quiet on offense, missed lots of easy bunnies around the basket during his career, BUT in playoff basketball advantages became evident with his stellar rebounding and defense.
Besides their individual contributions, what made this
squad special was that they clicked and operated like a well-oiled
machine and that's how they topped a Laker team that should have easily
won the title in only 5 games 0_o.
Now let me just look at Pacers starting 5 for comparison:
George Hill @ PG- Not an outlandish type like (Rose, Rondo, CP3), but gets the job done and is coming into his own as a solid floor leader similar to Chauncey in the past.
Lance Stephenson@ SG not outlandish but
gives you a solid effort on offense and on the rebounds, and will play
defense. (If Wade is hindered any by leg injury), then Stephenson may
even look like a defensive specialist in this matchup.
Paul George @ SF- Much like Prince of that Detroit team, Paul George can get offense and does his job on defense, although he is not a premiere player in the league yet, but neither was Prince. But all he needed to be was solid night in and night out.
David West @PF- Like Rasheed
Wallace, West has a toughness and has a plethora of offensive weapons
and gives you solid D. he is an ex-factor in this series just as Wallace
was in Pistons series against the Lakers.
Roy Hibbert @ C- Much like Ben Wallace, Hibbert is not good for much but grabbing a ton of rebounds, altering shots around the basket, and creating a little havoc in the middle. He doesn't need to score, Ben Wallace didn't need to score to be great for his team, and neither does Hibbert, so I wouldn't give too much weight to the fact that Hibbert is not a good offensive option because offense doesn't win championships.
I
made this comparison because I know that this Miami team can be upset
by this Pacers because a Laker team that had a similar genetic make up
to Miami's ( hall of famers and good athletic supporting cast) got beat
by a Pistons team that was similar to this year's Pacer team (No
superstars, but solid players who are deadly as a unit).
On the season Pacers are:
POINTS PER GAME
REBOUNDS PER GAME
ASSISTS PER GAME
POINTS ALLOWED
IMHO...i believe the refs will play a 30% role in getting Miami to finals. Otherwise, if this one is called fairly, with little error, Miami will have trouble. I think this series goes 6 or 7 games and Miami wins.
With all that I just said being said, I believe that Miami wins the series, but I'm going to be backing Indiana ATS in most of these games. Including game 1. This is just my opinion
PACERS +8
