Derrick Rose has decided not to play because he is scared of Miami. Argument that he might get reinjured is worthless. He was cleared by team doctors. Injury is a part of the game. He is being paid like a king. Even if he got injured again he would still get money from insurance. He does not work for $20/hour - meaning that he does not have to preserve his body to be able to work longtime - to take care of his family. He and his family will never have to work in their life again.
(Derrick Rose Salary with the Chicago Bulls 2012 is $16,402,552) On top of that Derrick Rose has $250M Adidas deal.
He should return money to his team, fans.
Derrick Rose is the worst example for his already disastrous Englewood area and South Chicago, IL. Those people cannot clean their filthy neighborhoods. Why should they - they don't get pay for it anyway. Why should they work, try to find a job or try to better themselves - they get welfare.
Derrick Rose and his brother have decided long time ago. Why should he play? Bulls will not beat Miami anyway so why try. What an example. And he is babbling about God.

How can he be around his Chicago Bulls teammates when they fight with all those injuries, how can he look in their eyes.
He is so fake jumping behind the bench and "supporting" his team.. He sure wants them to beat Nets. I would bet all my money that he just wants Bulls to lose tonight.
Karma is a biatch - he will see when his teammates quit on him.

Some people say they Bulls should just quit. They won't stand a chance against Miami anyway. Well by that logic there is no point for fans of 80% NBA teams to support their team because those teams have NO chance to wing the ring anyway.

First off you have no idea what an ACL tear is like. The Dr cleared him of the ACL but his hamstrings are another story. If I was making that much money I wouldn't risk it for playing a series that we weren't going to win. We are all banged up. We forced Jordan back too early and almost cost his career. I'm glad he is waiting til next season. You can't compare athletes to normal people and their jobs. Lastly, he is our franchise so if he says he isn't ready I don't girl about him coming back. Our chemistry will be way off anyways. Start fresh next year

Chemistry? Nobody said he should start. Bulls are decimated. He could help out from the bench.
Yes I have no idea what ACL tear is - but I am sure Bulls organization and doctors know something about it and if they would not consider him playing safe they would not clear him. It is after all their multimillion $ investment.

To jtoler: Yes Derrick Rose has a career and makes millions of playing ball and he has an employer and fans who pay his royal paycheck and he owes them. If not for Basketball Rose would be selling crack somewhere on corner of Englewood. He is pretty simple (IQ wise). Obviously Bulls want him to play, otherwise they would have shut him down long time ago and kill the controversy.

Brandon Roy thought that too.

Well if he scared of getting injured again it his right not to play but then he should pay the money back. After all he will be the reason that Bulls won't be able to get some of the greatest available players because of salary cap. He was after max contract.

Fans dont pay his paycheck, the owner does. You make yourself sound silly saying someone should do something when youve never even been through it, besides if you had youre still in no position to judge. He has a 250 million dollar shoe contract and about a 100 million contract with the Bulls, thats 350 million, nobody in their RIGHT mind would screw that up if they are smart and he's being smart by waiting till HE feels he can be the same player that got him those big contracts. You sit in a totally different perspective than him so you cant fathom such logic.

He is a basketball player or not? If he want a safe career maybe he should get an MBA and go work in a office. Michael Jordan, Kobe would have been playing long time ago.
It is you 'jtoler" that make yourself silly. He was cleared to play by his team more than 2 month ago.

Again, think Brandon Roy. If Rose came back and got reinjured again youd be saying well that dummy should have stayed out longer. Who cares what a doctor says, injuries like this have a mental setback which is more delicate than the actual physical setback. The League would eat up a 70% Rose or even an 80% Rose IMO. We watch for entertainment value, who wants to see Rose on the court when he doesnt look like what we are accustomed to.

to jtoler: Your logic is "extraordinary". Your IQ must be on about Derrick Roses level. "Fans dont pay his paycheck, the owner does."
That's like saying working people don't pay for unemployed and their welfare - government does.
You do realize any NBA owner across the league is wealthy and having an NBA team is not the reason why they are wealthy dont you. Owning an NBA team is like having a hobby to them, they bought a team simply because they can. If one fan didnt show up the owner could still pay a player's contract, in fact if they woke up in the morning and their bank account reflected Rose's bank account they would probably jump off a building.

You do realize that just because somebody is wealthy it does not mean that they just want to waste their money. There is a reason why they are wealthy and don't make a mistake about it - NBA is an investment for them first and foremost.
Why did Chicago Bulls raise their ticket prices by over 5 percent this season - nearly two points above league average?

Im sure if you asked Brandon Roy right now, whose NBA career is OVER, if he wished he had waited longer before returning from injuries, his answer would be an emphatic YES!
