#1 Posted: 7/15/2012 1:24:58 AM .... They go and pull off a boneheaded move trading a good young defender in jefferies for kurt thomas and that pudgy darn felton.... Did they not realize that feltons short lived sucess in new york was a result of dantonis system BEFORE the ball stopper carmelo got there? if they dont match lin in favor of felton the knicks are epically stupid and might as well fold.... after so many bad signings and paying horrendous luxary taxes for years, they need to suck it up and pay whatever tax they have to 3 years from now.... after that amares contract will off the books anyway.... |

#3 Posted: 7/15/2012 2:28:29 AM the Knicks are stupid. Lin's contract is worth 1 billion, with all those jerseys sold on the Chinese market and the love that Asians will give to the team with purchasing other things aswell.
Felton will not sell 2 friggin J's

#4 Posted: 7/15/2012 3:18:16 AM Very questionable move from a basketball and marketing standpoint.
Felton isn't a significant upgrade(especially defensively, where the Knicks need help) compared to Lin. Kidd will be likely be the floor general in crucial stages of the game, so I'm not seeing the Knicks thought process by getting Felton for what will be playing time of 25-30 minutes a game. He is an average facilitator(though with Melo and Amare, anyone would look better) with one of the worst assists to turnover ratios for starting PG's.
Lin is obviously the no brainer in terms of marketing prowess.
Knicks are now without Jeffries and Fields(as well as Shumpert for some time), who are some of their better defenders. Chandler is the only one who is a true stopper I'm not convinced Woodson will get this team defense concept ingrained with Melo and Amare being the lazy defenders they are.
The Knicks are the 4th or 5th best team in the East right now, nowhere near good enough to compete for a ring. |

#5 Posted: 7/15/2012 3:25:30 AM Even if the match the offer for Lin, it still is a befuddling move to get Felton, as they could have gotten another free agent or made a trade to fill their lack of depth at shooting guard.

#7 Posted: 7/15/2012 2:29:16 PM "Pudgy darn Felton" LOL
I think this was a dumb move by NY. They can add whoever the hell they want as long as Melo and Amare are on this team they will never win. They have don't know how to play team ball. I like Chandler but that's about it. Jr Smith, Melo, Amare, Felton...I think the knicks made pointless additions that will not make any significant difference. J Kidd is washed up, Camby is good but I mean he's not going to change this team, Felton is trash. I'd rather see Shumpert start, rather then JR. Shumpert doesn't need to score, he's a lockdown defender. I just think they have a mess of a roster.

#8 Posted: 7/17/2012 11:15:27 PM Knicks not matching for lin... I dont get where this new found fiscal responsibility and future planning is coming from! after years of bad contracts they are sudennly not willing to take a risk on their own player that they "discovered"? Lin is still a "rookie" from a games played experience perspective... The upside is worth the risk
Getting a feeling too many egos in management and in the locker room couldnt handle lin getting that contract....
On the plus side for lin, he will have a better chance to develop without the pressure for a solid organization like the rockets and still have plenty of marketing opportunities through the rocket-ming-china connection....
Even as a non-knicks fan i am dissapointed... it would have been special to see him potentially develop into a very good player in a knicks uniform...
Once again, dont understand why the knicks werent willing to take a risk here... the upside was too good and worst case scenario they have 4 expiring contracts to dump in 2014-15 if they want to get under the tax penalty anyway.... |

#10 Posted: 7/17/2012 11:32:49 PM Knicks is just praying that kidd will perform like the good old days! NJ is definitely better than them as dwil will take control of every game and with lots of shooters and big men around him.
Carmelo will again be the ball sucking behind like before and i doubt if felton can make a difference. 9 yrs in the nba already and what you see is what you get. There will be no improvement on his part already.
The only plus factor is if amare can play better as kidd is around.... |

#11 Posted: 7/17/2012 11:33:21 PM Add the fact that if the rockets dont get howard they will stink and lin will likely put up great scoring numbers on a team without any other big stars to share the shots with.... Knicks fans will be pissed to see him put up those numbers and its going to reflect badly on dolan and knicks management.....
thats turrible kenny, just turrible..... knicks fans should be rightly pissed... |

#12 Posted: 7/17/2012 11:34:27 PM Great posts bob. I'm in total agreement with you in regards to their front office moves. I'm befuddled as to why they make those moves they've made as well.
Sometimes I ask how are these gms even get the jobs. |

#13 Posted: 7/18/2012 11:35:30 AM Man, if you check the newly updated NYKnicks roster, it's just sick and short. So many old players! I have not seen a team with a roster that has more 10+ years of NBA experience than single digit NBA experiences.

This is just sad.....
