#1 Posted: 5/7/2012 12:13:49 AM Denver got hacked 200 times and no whistle. Lakers got every whistle, every call. Very clear ref bias. Just a perfect example of the NBA bias that you see in the playoffs. The lakers got called for foul 13 times in the whole freakin game lol.
disclosure: i had no wager on the game.

#3 Posted: 5/7/2012 12:16:46 AM That was egregious. What's the point of playing the games if the refs are just going to determine a winner the majority of the time? The Sixers won the same way today as well.

#6 Posted: 5/7/2012 12:19:11 AM Lakers also got the no calls. Bottom line: Lakers got more clutch players than Denver and that got them the win.

#9 Posted: 5/7/2012 12:42:35 AM There is no crying in betting NBA. If you think it is shady, then don't bet it. But if you bet it, just don't cry. |

#11 Posted: 5/7/2012 12:45:54 AM Even George Karl, who is quite classy spent 50% of the post game interview alluding to the calls. Totally biased second half calls imo.

#16 Posted: 5/7/2012 1:10:36 AM The Lakers started the game with a "no question" attitude. On questionable calls there was very little complaint by Lakers players, specifically early on in the game.
The refs got into the rhythm of the game early on and didn't call too ticky-tack. To the Nuggets credit they didn't complain a whole lot either.
The excessive flop by Gallinari in the 4th quarter did nothing to help the Nugget's case.
It's human nature. Nothing surprising about how the refs called it. |

#17 Posted: 5/7/2012 1:12:10 AM Please note, I am NOT saying the game was fixed or rigged. NBA games are not fixed. What I AM saying is that in certain situations the refs are either subconsciously or subtlety directed to be biased in their calls. I do believe that the NBA through an unstated tradition lets the refs know who they'd like to see win. Then it plays out in a ref bias that isn't crazy overt, but more subtle in most cases. Tonight there was a sequence where Denver got mugged 3 times in a row right at the rim, not call. Meanwhile a mouse fart on the laker side of the court was two shots.

#18 Posted: 5/7/2012 1:14:51 AM btw, if you bet with "who would the NBA want to win" you will do very well. Example. The NBA wants the Clippers to win. They will obviously take the series imo.

#19 Posted: 5/7/2012 3:24:26 AM this is true...there are teams that the nba obviously would much rather see in the finals. im pretty sure the teams not on that list are well aware of this as well. it is what it is, and you just have to roll with it. the spurs understand this and they understand that he have to play near-perfect basketball just to reach the mountain top because who actually believes the nba wants the spurs in the finals? the preferred teams will always get the friendly whistle, but its up to the players at the end of the day. the refs cannot put the ball in the cup for them. |

#20 Posted: 5/7/2012 3:27:24 AM i have always believed that teams "on the list" will have every opportunity to win, but if the other team is just kicking their butts (ie: lakers vs pistons 2004), then theres nothing they can do. |

#21 Posted: 5/7/2012 4:00:40 AM Not true. Denver got the ball when it didn't go off of Kobe's foot last. There were some fouls on Den they never called either. For the most part the refs just let them play ball. I do agree about the CHI/PHI game. The refs were horrible. |

#22 Posted: 5/7/2012 7:18:42 AM Why do people always girl about this? Yes, the stars/popular teams get calls. That's NBA basketball if you don't believe me and think life should be fair watch a few NBA games. As far as this game I didn't see an overwhelming amount of bad calls here for the Lakers but of course there were some; it's the way it goes. Get used to it. |

This is well said. I always tell people the little guy has to really beat the big boy if they want to win in the NBA cause they're not getting any help. Little guy must beat the big guy by 11 cause the refs are gonna give the big guy a chance to get a free 10 ( through possessions/free throws if the big guy can execute is up to them). |
