This number has been creeping down since it opened at 199.5. Even though my numbers only show a couple points of value at this number (final score prediction of 196) I think it could go even lower than this. Both teams play very clean defensive basketball (Spurs rank #2 in defensive FTR and the Lakers rank #1). With the Spurs fighting for the number one overall seed in the West and the Lakers looking to hold onto the 3 seed from the surging Clippers you can expect some playoff atmosphere tonight - and that usually means elevated defensive intensity. Neither team is very good at forcing turnovers (LAL ranks #30 in defensive TOR and SAS ranks #26). Both teams are also excellent at limiting second chance opportunities (LAL ranks #5 in defensive ORR and SAS ranks #1). What do these stats tell you? You can expect both teams to run a deliberate offense with few turnovers leading to fast break points, few offensive rebounds leading to second chance points and few fouls leading to free points at the charity stripe. Now that's an under recipe if I've ever seen one.
