Funny, but none of the guys you mention had a 1 hour show about where they were signing as a free agent and saying that they would win 7+ championships. 

And then like a jackass, he has to tell everyone that they will wake up to the same problems they always had today.

Whoever is advising him is and has been doing an AWFUL job.  Would it really have been hard to say, "I played like ass and we just didn't get it done.  The Mavs outplayed us.  But we got damn close in only our first year.  Disappointing, but there is reason for optimism."

There.  Done deal.  But he can't even do that.
