What
a disappointing Wednesday. Usually it
would not faze me to go 1-3 with both leans hitting, especially after the 2
weeks I have had, however yesterday’s losses really stung due to the fact that
it was my first returning post on the forum and I wanted to come back with a bang. Nevertheless, watched all 4 games from
start to finish now and realize where I went wrong. Have made the necessary notes and adjustments in my
rankings. TNT Thursdays are my least favourite
day of the week in terms of capping. For
two years it has been one of the worst days for me but this year has been
different. I never force action on
Thursdays and may just decide to lay off and wait for a large Friday slate and
better opportunities on the weekend. In
any case, I will have an update later on in the evening and a final card by
6:00pm eastern. Whatever sides, totals
and props you are on, I wish you all nothing but the best of luck. Peace out - - - MAK
LOS ANGELES LAKERS @ BOSTON CELTICS
The two largest wagers I have had all season were on the Boston
Celtics. The first for 7 units was my
opening play of the year when Miami made their debut at the Garden. The second largest wager of the season for me
was a 6 unit moneyline dog play on the Celts exacting revenge in Los Angeles.Strangely though I will most likely sit this
game out.My initial gut feeling says
the Lakers will come out with the same mentality and poise as they did in
Memphis.I continuously here individuals
doubt the motivation of the champs, you are right to do so in some aspect,
however you need to pick and choose your spots with the Lakers. When there is even a minuscule motivating
factor for Los Angeles, they are a team to back. They basically are a 4 man team with Fisher and Artest being the
important role players. Pau, Kobe, Andrew and Lamar are a formidable four. They rebound, defend, score and have a lot of jewelery.I cannot underestimate a
front four like that.Recently Los
Angeles has been attacking the basket, trying to get to the rim and get easy
points.Artest has been called out by
Phil Jackson, and although he did not take it very well, he has responded. He is doing the intangible things that the
Lakers desperately need. He has been
lost in translation this year and it is costing the Lakers on the defensive
end.Despite my gut telling me the
Lakers show up tonight, I have clear notes over the past two weeks that state “The
Lakers are beatable on the road vs a top-tier ball club”Well the Celts are as top-tier as you can
get.They are playing exceptional
basketball. The ONLY time I am afraid to
back the Celtics is on back-to-back situations.7 of their 13 season losses have come on 0 days rest....that is over 50%
of their straight up losses....that is a staggering stat in my opinion. On multiple days rest, there may not be a
better team than the Celtics. My only
concern is their lack of depth right now. They are missing massive rotation players.I think we have had an opportunity to see the
best of all the powerhouse teams EXCEPT for the Chicago Bulls and the Boston
Celtics.San An has had the same
starting 5 for the entire season.Bynum
is back for a full healthy Lakers team, we have seen Orlando, Dallas and OKC at
full strength as well.We have however,
not seen the REAL Boston Celtics. In the
playoffs you will see the same starting five most likely.I would prefer Perk manning the middle but it
may be Shaq. You will also have 4 solid
big front court players available on the 2nd unit.Erden, Jermaine, Shaq/Perk and Big Baby. With no Daniels, the Celtics lack a 2 guard
who can defend the perimeter and has size. They do have Von Wafer and Avery Bradley, two young underrated defensive
guards.The biggest and most underrated
injury right now is to Delonte West.West is PERFECT for the Doc Rivers system, he fits in to the PG role
much better than Nate Robinson and can play off the ball as well.Once he returns, look for Boston to really
excel for 48 minutes as playmaking ability will only decrease slightly when
Rondo goes to the bench.Depth is key
for Boston....but, they did not need depth to win in Los Angeles. They didn’t need Erden, Shaq, J.O or
Daniels. They won it in Los Angeles with
good games from the fantastic four (Rondo, Allen, Pierce and KG). Perkins was
the difference maker as Shaq was once again invisible. It was a fairly easy win, just goes to show
you what an absolute FLUKE their game 7 loss was to Los Angeles. In my opinion one of the biggest asterisks in
NBA championship history.They didn’t
deserve it, don’t care if all you Laker lovers come in here and bash the
statement, it is the truth and you know it.The most historic rivalry in basketball is still the top matchup in the
NBA.I believe the Celtics come out hard
in the 1st quarter, they won’t need depth today, all they will need is defense,
Allen to break Reggie’s record and crowd support and they should take care of
the Champs with ease.It will either be on
the Celts or no play for me, leaning towards no play as I rarely ever go
against my gut instinct.

How the hell will the Warriors perform?I don’t think I have ever seen this situation
before.The Golden State Warriors have
been in the great state of Cali For Nai A since January 6th.I do remember a few occasions where the
Lakers stayed in Cali for about a month but never the Warriors. In the NBA it is difficult to get back on the
“road mentality” when for about 16 games it has been about defending home
court.Combine with the back to back
situation, this may get out of hand. However, the revenge factor is in play as the Suns defeated the Warriors
at Oracle Arena a few nights ago.It was
a combined effort.Phoenix is so deep that
it is very difficult for Alvin Gentry to find a steady rotation. He wants to find everyone minutes but he has
learned it is not possible.Basketball
is all about flow, in my opinion the shorter the rotation, the better the
basketball team.Right now Gortat is a
game changer. He is finding his niche in
this league as a backup big man.He was
NEVER a backup big man in Orlando...he was a shadow of Dwight...backing
up the most dominant big man in the NBA is not the same as backing up
Robin
Lopez.Gortat is getting time, playing
defense and learning to slip the pick and pop to perfection. He was never good at slipping screens before,
but Nash allows big men to easily adapt to the pick and roll.Dudley, Gortat and Pietrus are key
tonight. They will need to provide some
bench production.The underrated 2nd
unit of GS consists of Reggie Williams, Ekpe Udoh and Vlad the Rad one. They can provide good things off the
bench.3 starters on GS played over 40
minutes and that could take effect in the valley of the Sun tonight. It will be either the Suns or no play on this
one, I love the Warriors, their 8 man rotation is actually better than Phoenix
in my opinion, I just do not see how that can acclimate themselves and prepare
for this road game after a month of chilling at home.
DALLAS MAVERICKS @ DENVER NUGGETS
I have a clear note in CAPS that states “Do not back the
Nuggets unless they have a full healthy rotation” That means even if there is
one man injured, the Nuggets will find it difficult to compete.Tonight Billups is back which means a 100% healthy
Nuggets team.Most people have forgotten
that in the last half decade the Nuggets have been one of the most successful home
teams in the NBA.In fact, during the
Mello era, the Nugs have only once lost 3 games in a row at home and that was
all the way back in the 2005/2006 season.Granted the Mello era is coming to an end (and it IS coming to an end,
don’t believe the Denver reports, it is a business tactic to obtain leverage,
trust me that is all it is...I do it all the time in business dealings) Denver
has lost 2 straight at home and I just do not see them dropping this one as
well.Granted they are on a back to back
from Cali to Denver but luckily so are the Mavs.I watched the entireDallas game last night as was very concerned with what I
saw from Dirk. That wrist has got into
his head, nothing is really wrong with it.Dirk has always been as soft as a kitten, he is allowing that wrist to
get into his head before every shot. You
can see his release is almost in slow motion and he keeps thinking about the
wrist when he flicks the end rotation of his shot.Without Dirk No win ski at an MVP level, this
team will not win against teams in the West playoff race. These two teams have met twice this season,
both games were excellent and entertaining games to watch. The first game was a road win for the
Mavs...a FLUKE road win.Some
very controversial calls at the end of the game from what I remember. The home and home series then went back to
Dallas when Denver exacted sweet revenge. Both games were very close, both games Dallas dominated the glass and
outperformed Denver on the block (78 combined points in the paint) The sole
reason for this was the absence of Denver’s starting 5 man, the man formally known
as Hilario.Nene has been as solid a
starting center as there is.He
rebounds, blocks shots and scores next to the rim.He is a VITAL part to this Denver team and
will be a difference maker tonight.Denver
is a playoff team in the West.Insert
Corey Brewer and Wilson Chandler and exit Mello and I STILL think this is a playoff team in
the West (8th seed).I just do not see Denver
losing 3 straight at home against half a Dirk and the Mavs.
NEWS OF JERRY SLOAN’S RESIGNATION
I have no idea what
to say...I am absolutely speechless.How
could this happen? It makes no sense to
me.Something is not right here.D Will was very upset after the game,
exchanged a few choice words with Carlos Boozer after the game....I just don’t
get this at all....Jerry Sloan is a king, despite what a lot of you say, I
think he is one of the greatest coaches in the history of the NBA.He is a hall of famer for a reason.....I
really am shocked at this report...do not know what to make of all this until
more information comes out.Long live
King Sloan.

Nice work!!!!!! Yeah Sloan.....I thought he just signed a extension? Best of Luck to you!!!!!!!! Get it!!!!!!!!!
I have no idea what the hell is going on. Obviously this was a decision by Jerry Sloan, its not like Utah would ever dismiss him. Utah took the loss very hard last night, especially since Brewer, Korver and Boozer all had their hand in a close victory. Korver a clutch 3 in the 4th Q, Booz attracted all the attention and dropped off a pass to Kurt Thomas for a clutch jumper, Brewer with a final possesion steal on Williams. Rose just made Deron look like a mediocre point, D Rose outplayed him end to end and that was the difference. Something is not right here, I just cannot begin to understand this. Something happened after the game in the locker room, that is the ONLY explanation. GL tonight dogg.

I am floored by Sloan's resignation too, mak -- he was a living legend. I'm seeing various blurbs about him having a problem in his relationship with Deron Williams, perhaps this was a power play by Williams saying he's gone after this contract is over if Sloan remains? I mean Williams has been kinda garbage recently, I can't imagine Sloan would let such a stretch of poor play go uncommented upon. Perhaps Williams has a super thin skin?
I really like the UNDER in the Suns game mak, check my write-up in my thread, curious as to your thoughts on it.

Keep strong brother
Kap you make a good point but let me ask you a question...do you really think there is any way Deron will actually resign in Salt Lake City? No fucking way in my opinion. DMW will high-tail it to Los Angeles I guarantee. I just do not think the organization and long-time owners group would let go of Sloan unless Sloan asked for it himself. Deron shouts at AK47 all the time, he doesn't get along with Bell or Sloan, I think Deron is the problem...not the hall of fame coach.
Can't believe you are asking my opinion on a total Kap, you know better than that...I am awful at totals. The value however is most def on the Under. This 218 total is contingent upon last year. oddsmakers have seemed to throw the mathematics out the door on this one and instead focused on the identity and reputation of both teams. These are not the same Suns and Warriors of past years, there is actually a glimmer of defense in their systems. Golden State scores about 5-6 points less a game on average on 1 or less days rest. I would have to say you are on the right side buddy, I will take a look at your writeup and may even tail for a unit. I wish you the best of luck my friend.
I just want to state that I only open 3 threads and value the opinion of about 4 guys on the NBA forum. You are on the top of that list along with Bator, Milkman and CMJ. No one else seems to provide any consistent info or insight that is helpful in any way. Pitiful really.

i dont know about that you seem great writer more than anything for me you know your nba like most people does, its just they can write well like you recently, your picks are losing like all other people. for me you are good capper, but same as other good cappers. at the end its all gambling.

Very kind words mak, I appreciate them. I know your reluctance to delve into the issue of totals, but I just wanted to make sure that you were seeing the same things that I was at is relates to the public perception of GSW and PHX versus the reality for those of us who have followed them and watched their games this year. You confirmed what I thought I saw, which makes me know I wasn't just making it up in my head but it was actually happening on the court.

I just want to state that I only open 3 threads and value the opinion of about 4 guys on the NBA forum. You are on the top of that list along with Bator, Milkman and CMJ. No one else seems to provide any consistent info or insight that is helpful in any way. Pitiful really.
Absolutely not, I think he's gone. No current NBA transcendent star (or someone who THINKS he is a transcendent star) is gonna want to play in Salt Lake City. I'm sorry, its just the way of the world. They want to be in Dallas, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, etc.., not the Sacramento, Indiana, Charlotte, or Milwaukees of the world.
I have always liked Williams' individual game as a power PG, but my opinion of the PG position is that the number one responsibility for that person is to be a leader and uniter of the team. You will see the most dysfunctional teams in the NBA, historically, are those with a PG who doesn't give a **** (I'm looking at you, Stephon Marbury, Steve Francis, Allen Iverson... I could go on) about the rest of his team. If what we are reading about Williams blaming everyone else for losses is true, then I will have lost a lot of my respect for him as a player. Sloan leaving basically tells me that he legitimately believed that the new ownership was listening to the players over him. If you would have told me before the season what are the odds that Sloan resigns in the middle of the NBA regular season, I would have said you are freaking insane. For this to happen, there must have been a significant, significant problem where Sloan felt that he didn't have management supporting him.
I have to imagine that this is not gonna go over well in Utah amongst their fan base. I wouldn't be surprised if we start hearing some boo birds for Deron at home.
Golden State scores about 5-6 points less a game on average on 1 or less days rest. i dont know about that you seem great writer more than anything for me you know your nba like most people does, its just they can write well like you recently, your picks are losing like all other people. for me you are good capper, but same as other good cappers. at the end its all gambling.
I appreciate your opinion, but again...all it is, is an opinion. That was my opinion, not a fact. The fact is, you have never liked me, consistently post negative comments in my thread, rarely provide anything constructive in terms of criticism so please excuse me if I really take what you say to heart. You calling me a good writer and not a good capper is a little hurtful but again I shouldn't take that as a negative considering english is your second language (as it is mine) and I doubt you understand all the realms of everything I say.
I pride myself on being a better capper than write so get that straight, I try to portray my thoughts well. Your comment about me losing more than winning is ludicrous, I now wish I had started the season by posting a record, I never believe in it but truth be told I really regret it now, it would put this forum on notice. I never claim to be the best capper as many other "professional" cappers on this forum have claimed, I think that is egotistical and very Lebron Jamesish, I do however have more confidence in my outlook of the NBA than anyone else on the planet, if you don't have that swagger in a specific sport, you should not be wagering in it.
What matters in the end is the total investment made at the end of the season, that is ALL it comes down to.

Yea Kap, I think it is a fair assessment to state that reputation carries over with up tempo teams, although GS and PHX still run and gun, when they square off against each other in the near future I doubt the totals will exceed 220. I wish you the best of luck and will be rooting for ya bro.

What a disappointing Wednesday. Usually it would not faze me to go 1-3 with both leans hitting, especially after the 2 weeks I have had, however yesterday’s losses really stung due to the fact that it was my first returning post on the forum and I wanted to come back with a bang. Nevertheless, watched all 4 games from start to finish now and realize where I went wrong. Have made the necessary notes and adjustments in my rankings. TNT Thursdays are my least favourite day of the week in terms of capping. For two years it has been one of the worst days for me but this year has been different. I never force action on Thursdays and may just decide to lay off and wait for a large Friday slate and better opportunities on the weekend. In any case, I will have an update later on in the evening and a final card by 6:00pm eastern. Whatever sides, totals and props you are on, I wish you all nothing but the best of luck. Peace out - - - MAK
LOS ANGELES LAKERS @ BOSTON CELTICS
The two largest wagers I have had all season were on the Boston Celtics. The first for 7 units was my opening play of the year when Miami made their debut at the Garden. The second largest wager of the season for me was a 6 unit moneyline dog play on the Celts exacting revenge in Los Angeles.Strangely though I will most likely sit this game out.My initial gut feeling says the Lakers will come out with the same mentality and poise as they did in Memphis.I continuously here individuals doubt the motivation of the champs, you are right to do so in some aspect, however you need to pick and choose your spots with the Lakers. When there is even a minuscule motivating factor for Los Angeles, they are a team to back. They basically are a 4 man team with Fisher and Artest being the important role players. Pau, Kobe, Andrew and Lamar are a formidable four. They rebound, defend, score and have a lot of jewelery.I cannot underestimate a front four like that.Recently Los Angeles has been attacking the basket, trying to get to the rim and get easy points.Artest has been called out by Phil Jackson, and although he did not take it very well, he has responded. He is doing the intangible things that the Lakers desperately need. He has been lost in translation this year and it is costing the Lakers on the defensive end.Despite my gut telling me the Lakers show up tonight, I have clear notes over the past two weeks that state “The Lakers are beatable on the road vs a top-tier ball club”Well the Celts are as top-tier as you can get. They are playing exceptional basketball. The ONLY time I am afraid to back the Celtics is on back-to-back situations.7 of their 13 season losses have come on 0 days rest....that is over 50% of their straight up losses....that is a staggering stat in my opinion. On multiple days rest, there may not be a better team than the Celtics. My only concern is their lack of depth right now. They are missing massive rotation players.I think we have had an opportunity to see the best of all the powerhouse teams EXCEPT for the Chicago Bulls and the Boston Celtics.San An has had the same starting 5 for the entire season.Bynum is back for a full healthy Lakers team, we have seen Orlando, Dallas and OKC at full strength as well.We have however, not seen the REAL Boston Celtics. In the playoffs you will see the same starting five most likely.I would prefer Perk manning the middle but it may be Shaq. You will also have 4 solid big front court players available on the 2nd unit.Erden, Jermaine, Shaq/Perk and Big Baby. With no Daniels, the Celtics lack a 2 guard who can defend the perimeter and has size. They do have Von Wafer and Avery Bradley, two young underrated defensive guards. The biggest and most underrated injury right now is to Delonte West.West is PERFECT for the Doc Rivers system, he fits in to the PG role much better than Nate Robinson and can play off the ball as well.Once he returns, look for Boston to really excel for 48 minutes as playmaking ability will only decrease slightly when Rondo goes to the bench.Depth is key for Boston....but, they did not need depth to win in Los Angeles. They didn’t need Erden, Shaq, J.O or Daniels. They won it in Los Angeles with good games from the fantastic four (Rondo, Allen, Pierce and KG). Perkins was the difference maker as Shaq was once again invisible. It was a fairly easy win, just goes to show you what an absolute FLUKE their game 7 loss was to Los Angeles. In my opinion one of the biggest asterisks in NBA championship history. They didn’t deserve it, don’t care if all you Laker lovers come in here and bash the statement, it is the truth and you know it.The most historic rivalry in basketball is still the top matchup in the NBA.I believe the Celtics come out hard in the 1st quarter, they won’t need depth today, all they will need is defense, Allen to break Reggie’s record and crowd support and they should take care of the Champs with ease.It will either be on the Celts or no play for me, leaning towards no play as I rarely ever go against my gut instinct.

I always wonder if anyone scopes out the plays in WBA , I guess that answers that
I scope baby I scope, I am a horrible lurker on all covers forums and try to keep myself attune of all "go on ins" in sports. I do try to make up for my lack of contributions in other threads by providing as much info on the only sport I know, Keep it up Brent.
