#1 Posted: 1/19/2011 2:27:11 PM What’s up gents. A
proper night on Tuesday going 3-1 racking up a few benjamins. Cats ended up winning the game straight up. 3 straight gutsy performances on the road by
Silas’s team and they deserved to come out with a W. Dwayne Wade was excellent offensively and had
close to 30 at the end of regulation to cash my prop, however, his turnovers
cost Miami the game. Lebron needed OT to
cash my prop, he was excellent down the stretch, but once again his inability
to take care of the rock cost the Heat a home victory over the Hawks.
Large slate of games tonight, a lot of games scream no value
to me. A lot of intangibles, situational
aspects and roster inconsistencies swirl around a lot of games on today’s
card. Trying to find value, hoping I
did. 2 straight wagers tonight. Will also be playing my second poster teaser
of the season. 1-0 poster, 3-1 on the
season overall on 6 – 8 pt teasers.
Hoping I picked the correct games in a large slate with quite a few
leans. As always fellas, best of luck on
your wagers today. Peace - - - MAK
INDIANA PACERS @ GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
PICK: GOLDEN STATE – 3.0 (-120) - - - 3 UNITS
PICK: GOLDEN STATE MONEYLINE (-160) - - - 3 UNITS
The Golden State Warriors are the real deal. They can outscore any team in the NBA. I hear countless talks about All-Star
nominations for individuals on non-playoff teams. I think it is about time Mont Ellis gets
some recognition and that is why I voted for him for the all-star team. Obviously that vote won’t mean anything but I
really do hope the coaches recognize a guy who is currently outplaying Kobe and
Dwayne. Yes it is true,
statistically...Monta Ellis is the best shooting guard in the NBA. He is averaging more points than Kobe and
Wade, more assists, twice more steals and is shooting at a much better
percentage from beyond the arc. Ellis is
a Ninja, an assassin. His crossover is
one of the best in the league, his quickness and shot making ability makes him
very difficult to guard. Sag off him a
bit and he will shoot the J in your face, crowd him and he will blow by
you. Ellis is a legitimate star and one
of the best offensive threats in the NBA.
Monta loves playing vs Indy, last time these two met Ellis put up 45
points. Encore presentation
tonight. Curry has been playing with
injuries but is a “warrior” and continues to play and produce. Wright is the fantasy sleeper of the year,
putting up big numbers. He is the best 3
point shooter in the NBA in terms of makes and will battle with Danny all game
long. Don;t underestimate the lanky
forward, he could go toe-to-toe with Granger.
David Lee and Andris Biedrins will eat Tyler and Roy alive. Roy has been really struggling, no confidence
in his game at all. Off a 4 and 4
performance look for the struggles to continue.
Off the bench a strict rotation has cause Lou and Udoh to get minimal
minutes. Buzz-kill, but Radmanovic, Reggie
and Law have been playing decent and with the GS starters playing a majority of
minutes, their lack of bench punch doesn’t scare me. The fact is Indiana struggles to win against
teams with a high octane offense. When
the tempo increases, Indiana lacks the ability to keep up offensively. Indiana is 4-10 this season when teams score
over 100 points. GS is 8th in the NBA in
offense, they have scored over 100 points in all but 4 of their home games, of
the Warriors 16 wins this season all but two have come when they score over the
century mark. The Indiana Pacers are a
lottery team and a dismal road team. They
rank in the bottom 20 in the NBA in points, assists, steals and turnovers....yikes. Golden State is starting to implement a steady rotation, Ellis is on a mission to
make the All-Star team. Curry’s ankles
are getting better, the big man Andris is back and capable of consistent double-double
games. Wright is a gem and a 3 point cerebral
assassin and David Lee changes the complexity of this team. Win or lose this game, give me the Warriors
at home for 1 possession against a mediocre Eastern lottery team...I’ll bite every
time.
LOS ANGELES LAKERS @ DALLAS MAVERICKS
PICK: TYSON CHANDLER OVER 7.5 REBOUNDS (-120) - - - 2.5
UNITS
Watching the Dallas @ Detroit game was excruciatingly
painful. Looking at the boxscore, you
probably thought Dirk played an excellent game...incorrect. darn his 30 points, he was a waste of space
on the basketball court. He played
little to no defense and did not box out on one single play...he was on the
court for 35+, I did not count one box out.
It cost them as Detroit got to every loose ball, every long
rebound. All the hustle plays in the
painted area belonged to Detroit.
Tonight Tyson returns, it still hurts to know Toronto could have had
Tyson as their starting 5 man this year if it wasn’t for MJ. I will always be bitter about that. Tyson is a beast, a defensive guru in the
post. Excellent timing, blocks shots and
changes a lot of decisions at the rim.
He is a game-changer and tonight no one else will influence their
presence in the post for Dallas, so Tyson should gobble up all the loose balls
and clean up the glass easy. He may even
have about 6-7 at the half. Like this
prop, Tyson should cash.

#2 Posted: 1/19/2011 2:27:26 PM DETROIT PISTONS @ BOSTON
CELTICS & TORONTO
RAPTORS @ SAN ANTONIO SPURS
PICK: 2 TM TEASER - BOSTON – 5.0 & SPURS – 5.0
(-133) - - - 2.5 UNITS
Both these squads could easily cover their respective
spreads. Boston looking to avenge a loss
at Detroit. They suffered it without
KG. I recently heard the Miami Heat
announcer compare Kevin’s defensive mindset and ability to Alonzo...I felt like
throwing my mug at the television set but it had some Johnny Walker Blue Label
and that stuff isn’t cheap. KG is a
first ballot hall-of-famer. One of the
best to have ever done it at the 4 position, Alonzo is nothing compared to
KG. Kevin is the heart, hustle and soul
of this team. Shaq, Rondo, Ray and Truth
round out one of the best starting 5’s in the NBA. Off the bench Glen Davis strives. Marquis is a defensive stopper and Nate is a
solid PG backup. This Celts team is
still a powerhouse, losing Jermaine hurts i my opinion but with Perk starting
to practice again and West on his way to recovery, Celts are ready. Look for the Celts to make one more subtle
move at the deadline and bring in a closer, someone to solidify their run for
the crown this year. Raps are resilient,
love Julian and what he brings to the team and starting lineup. Ed Davis has been spectacular and really
opening my eyes. The kid has potential
to be something special. Jose is playing
the best basketball of his career, career high assist averages...nevertheless,
Raps are depleted, going against the powerhouse of the NBA. No one can guard Hill, Manu, Tony and
Neal. Guards will rip open Toronto early
and often. Bargnani is their only hope
and with Antonio, Blair and Duncan, I doubt he goes off. Both these teams have an excellent chance to
win their games by double digits, I feel safer combining and shortening the
number.
UTAH JAZZ @ NEW JERSEY NETS
PICK: NEW JERSEY NETS + 6.5 (-110) - - - 1 UNIT
Ouch...picking the Nets??? What am I thinking. First off it’s a good gamble, D Will being a
game-time decision helps in pulling the trigger, but D Will is a champ and he
will play through anything. A flu shouldn’t
stop this all-star PG but I do hope it does tonight. If D Dub doesn’t suit up NJ has a good chance
to win this straight up. With D Will it
may be difficult to obtain the cover but NJ has a chance. Lopez has been playing some great ball as of
late, a back to back 30 point performance on the road-trip showed him once
again that he can dominate the post game vs many 5 men in this league. If he gets Al Jefferson into early foul
trouble, Utah could struggle. Lopez has
a tendency to draw fouls, he pushes his frame and chin upwards on the defender
and gets to the line fairly often.
Harris off a horrible game should look to bounce back. The NJ bench is key with Sasha, Farmer and
Hump all playing exceptionally well as a 2nd unit. Utah is by far the more superior team, they still
have road poise despite their recent loss to Washington. Washington dominated the post game and Utah
could not keep up score. If Favors, Hump
and Lopez can control the paint and Harris and Outlaw can provide some sort of
offense, than NJ has a chance to cover this spread at home. |

#12 Posted: 1/19/2011 3:14:00 PM Mak---I feel you on the Tyson Chandler deal..as a Bobcats backer, MJ has had lots of questionable moves since taking control, as well as advice when he was just a "consultant". The fact that Kwame Brown is still on the roster and getting regular minutes is proof that MJ is unwilling to admit a huge mistake by drafting him with the Wiz way back when. The other one that's too easy to 2nd guess is the Adam Morrison pick. Brandon Roy was on the board, but the Bob Johnson "blackcats" needed to lighten it up to sell tix and forgot that slow white guys don't really belong in this league (Larry legend excluded). Sorry to rant, but anyway...
The warriors jumped off the board for me as well, and I'm always happy to open your thread and find you in agreement. I think the entire league starts to lose value at this point every year, since Vegas has more stats history to draw on, and football is essentially over so they can focus on hoops. Lines tighten up, and I try to be very selective.
Great writeups as always bro, and go Warriors |

Woke up this morning with the day off
So I rolled a log and logged onto Covers....decided today was the day I would post some plays and take the wrath of the community Glad to see you're on the Nets with me. I made 3 plays so far today...Nets +7, Wash +7, Minny +7...posted them in a thread and am waiting for the ridicual. Thought it was funny I decided to post plays and they happen to be 3 of the worst in the association But oh well....some call it gambling, today I'm calling it situational
GL tonight and hope you had a hell of a hangover from your B-day |
