Apologies for the late arrival gents, as stated yesterday I plan to keep consistent for the next few weeks. I will also try to provide insight a bit earlier but with a short card today not much research was needed. Yesterday was disappointing. I despise losing games by 1 point...let alone two in one night on a 3 game slate of picks. I believe I deserved the loss on Phoenix, I expected them to carry a 13-16 point lead for much of the 2nd half and that was not even in the realm of possibility throughout the game. Manny Harris decided to light it up on me since I called him Mike Harris on the thread...I know your name now young fella. The Princeton offense can be dangerous if guys make shots. Nice chance for some youngsters to shine on Cleveland, a rare opportunity for guys to make their dreams come true and obtain contracts in the big league for years to come. Portland deserved that game, a gritty defensive battle all throughout the game. I don’t really think you shallow NBA fans realize what you are witnessing. Lebron and Dwayne are playing the 2nd greatest duo game I have ever seen in NBA. We are witnesses guys. Scary thing is these cats are very young. I am certain that there is championship glory in their future...multiple ones. The Tims battled the best in the West valiantly even with Big Beas. Very impressive young bunch and am now 11-3 on the season calling their games. Love “my” Tims. Tonight with such a measly Monday, hard to find value in the card. Going with a side and a prop and keeping them low value. As always gents, I wish you the best of luck tonight. Peace - - - MAK
MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES @ CHARLOTTE BOBCATS
PICK: MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES MONEYLINE (-140) - - - 3 UNITS
PICK: Z-BO OVER 32.5 PTS + REBOUNDS (-120) - - - 1 UNITS
Don’t really understand how so many individuals can completely change their perspective of a team because of a coaching change. Paul Silas really has not implemented his free-flow offense the way I thought he would. His last two wins came at the expense of the Wizards and Minny. I watched that Minny game and it was a basic fluke that Charlotte managed to steal victory. D.J was awful all game and just came alive hard in the 4th and OT. The Wizards game was a well deserved win against a depleated roster, called the Cats to take that one at home but expect them to lay an egg against the very talented Grizzlies. I was way off on my early season prediction on the Griz. I touted them to contend for 4th – 6th in the West. I was wrong, however, they are turning into the dangerous team I expected. They will contend all season for a playoff spot in the West. Memphis leads the NBA in steals and deflections. They may not be the best half-court defensive team in the league but their youth and exuberance on the defensive side of the ball provides them with extra possessions. Z-Bo is number 2 in the NBA in rebounds amongst power forwards behind Kevin Love. He is a walking, talking double-double and an underrated beast down-low. An all-star last season and I don’t see why he isn’t this season. He and Marc Gasol are going to devour all the loose balls away from Kwame and Boris. The only person that scares me on Charlotte is Tyrus Thomas. A power forward in a small forward’s frame is dangerous. He can leap and block shots and rebound with the best of them. But his new found appreciation of offense may hurt Charlotte in the long run. Memphis is a good team guys, you have to understand that. It just took a while for them to find that 2 man rotation. Now that they have a defensive stopper in Tony Allen at the starting 2, it allows Mayo to come in off the bench and do what he does best...score. Rookie Vasquez has really impressed me. He has had his best three game stretch as a pro with a combined 20 assists over his last 3. He is seeing the floor exceptionally well and making plays for teammates. Without Gerald Wallace, Nazzy or Diop, Charlotte will not have the strength or ability to keep Rudy Gay and Z-Bo from owning.
4 UNITS ZACH “DUB DUB” RANDOLPH
HOUSTON ROCKETS @ BOSTON CELTICS
PICK: NO PLAY
Doubt I will make a play but the info on Kevin Martin out makes me want to back the Celts. The sole reason I wont is due to the fact that my gut feeling was Houston covering this spread. Battier always plays The Truth well. I see Paul Pierce under 20 points. Glen Davis is really struggling and off a 4017 performance there is no telling where his confidence is at. I think Rondo has a massive assists game, he along with Ray Allen will have to lead this team. Off their worst loss of the season in my opinion, I look for the Celts and their home crowd to be pumped. But if Brooks (who is returning from injury tonight) along with the numerous talented wings and guards on Houston play well, than this could turn into a game.
DETROIT PISTONS @ CHICAGO BULLS
PICK: NO PLAY
Bulls are playing some exceptional defense, really starting to learn and understand the system. It is only a matter of time before Noah returns and they perfect the double T defensive system. This roster is scary, they can compete with the best of the best. Pistons come in as a unit in flux. Trying to find more stability, they are looking to trade Rip and his contract...so much for loyalty in business. When Hamilton was demoted to the bench he came out and scored almost 40. With all these trade talks he may do something out of the norm tonight, thus not worth a wager on this game with this anomaly. Look for D Rose and Booz to be big once again, and keep watching Greg Monroe's game as he is turning into a nice looking young big man in the paint.
