TUESDAY NOVEMBER 16TH LOS ANGELES @ MILWAUKEE
PICK: LAKERS MONEYLINE
I suspect a thin spread for the away team, will go with the ML on this one. Since the Pau Gasol era in Los Angeles the Lakers have only lost 3 in a row once. That was last year where they lost an OT thriller against Wade and the Heat, followed by a back to back game where they got beat by Charlotte (at that time a devastatingly good defensive squad) and finally losing another thriller by two in Orlando. Lakers are coming off a loss at home to the Suns. Los Angeles played terrific all game, Kobe had a near triple-double going 25, 14 and 9. Gasol and Odom went a combined 50 points and 28 rebounds. Phoenix was just unconscious from the land beyond almost breaking an NBA record with 3 point makes. The 3 is deadly in the NBA and when a team is on, there is little you can do in all other aspects of the game to outlast a 3 point barrage. Last year I remember watching the Lakers lone visit to Milwaukee, one of the best games of the season and in my opinion the best finish I saw all year. Kobe with a buzzer beater which was magnificent. Bogut played in that game and played well, even Redd who was healthy at the time had a huge game off the bench going 11-24. Both teams are different this year. To offset the Redd production Milwaukee will have Corey and Salmons. But the Lakers are slightly different as well and their key additions could really come in handy for games like this. Blake who missed the game vs PHX is probable and his outside shooting will be key off the bench tonight. Matt Barnes is the perfect asset to face the numerous talented wings on the Bucks squad. Most importantly Shannon Brown is another weapon that the Lakers really didn't have last season, his growth and confidence is key to the Lakers making another title run as well as winning this game tonight. My x-factor for sure. Due to the fact that Ratliff is injured and their next best big man on the pine is a rookie, look for Gasol and Odom to play major minutes if they stay out of foul trouble, and if they do I believe they dominate Gooden and Bogut all game. Milwaukee played a terrible game vs GS at home, I really thought they would come out and easily defeat the short handed Warriors but instead they only managed 79 points against one of the softer defenses in the NBA. The Bucks seem to lack offensive consistency and the Lakers will exploit that tonight. Milwaukee always has quite a large Kobe contingent and I suspect a big big game from the snake charmer tonight. Champs will refuse to lose 3 in a row and come out with a win in Wisconsin.

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 16TH CHICAGO @ HOUSTON
PICK: HOUSTON MONEYLINE (-120)
This bet is contingent upon the status of Yao and Budinger. If one of those players suit up tonight this bet is a go, if both are doubtful I would rather stay away from a wager in this game. Now Yao and Chase may not seem like a big deal, and with the immense depth that Houston has it really isn't, however Chicago has been playing very well and I think their starters match up quite well with Houston actually. It is the 2nd unit that is key to this game. Yao playing creates much more depth with Brad Miller and Chuck Hayes along with Jordan Hill as 3 serviceable bigs coming off the bench. Budinger paying just creates more depth at the wing positions with him Battier & Courtney Lee. Without him the 2 and 3 backup positions are a little short for Houston. Kyle Lowry is heathy again, a little rusty turning the ball over but understandable since this is his first run of the season after being injured for quite some time. Kyle can be a starting point guard in the NBA and hold his own while Brooks recovers. Now Ishmael Smith coming off the bench is fine by me, it was him as a starter that bugged me. He is very fast and has good playmaking ability and can rack up easy dimes and provide good minutes off the bench. I am hoping coach does something a little different and place Battier or Lee on Rose at time because the Rockets point guards are two small to contain D Rose. Bogans is a good defender but Kevin Martin is relentless at taking the ball to the rim when defender well, he is smart and savvy and there is a reason he is the 6th best scorer in the NBA. Scola should dominate Gibson, Scola is a very skilled low post scorer and should be able to use his body and box out the young sophomore with ease. Chicago has a solid starting 5 but with no Korver tonight due to injury that leaves a 2nd unit of Brewer, Watson, Omer Asik and Scalabrine...that is just not going to cut it against deeper western conference teams on the road. I don't plan to bet against the Bulls often when Boozer gets back so I will take my opportunities while I can get them.
