If he made the free throw, bulls would have got the ball at half court with .6 left, and Miller's shot would have counted. So, the strategy did work.

The crazy thing was, it was basically 0.01 of a difference that proved Billups was either an idiot or smart by purposely missing that FT. Lucky. Bulls did a great job though, holding a team that scores 109 a game to just 90. Not bad.
