Whaddaya say, Southern California Laker fans?  Are we gonna meet up at the Forum this Friday night or what?  I wonder if they still have the Lakers old court.  Call me crazy, but this is a can't miss event for Laker fans of all ages.  I'm not even a Laker fan, but that building was like a church to me, only more spiritually significant.  I was there the night Michael Jordan won his first title in June of 1991.  Don't believe me?  The proof is on YouTube.

It appears that may have been a night of sports gambling bliss for you, MrB. What a great shot of a junior Bator getting after it with the then invinciBulls!
 
Ahh, the Great Forum. I've never attended a game at that venue but my uncle told me a few stories about some of his trips in the late 70s when he was in his mid 20s. He said that as he walked towards the entrance of the stadium people on the street would try and sell him all sorts of interesting items, including a guy peddling a half-eaten ham sandwich.

I think Artest destroys this team. Not once in his career has be willing to be just a role player. How long will it be before Kobe and RonRon go at it with the same uniform on ? If Kobe and Shaq could not exist how will Kobe and RonRon ? No repeat as I am seeing all over this year.

That is great, Bator at an NBA Championship game 7 in the 90's and celebrating with the champs. How much did you have on that one? Been to a couple of games at the Forum and would love to see it however, I will probably be at game 2 of the LAA/Boston ALDS.

Good stuff and hope to see you posting in Baseball for playoffs

Ummmm. Were black tank tops the style then? IF  you answered yes, ummmm, are they still the style now?
No doubt though, great memory. I have some from the two Avalanche championships here that I will never forget! Got no youtube though.

Believe it or not, that night in the summer of 1991 happened more than a year before I placed my first sports bet in the fall of 1992.  The Bator you see on the floor of the Great Western Forum had a mind still unclouded by thoughts of pointspreads, parlays, and over/unders.  My suffering had not yet begun.

I'm truly torn.  I'm planning a trip to see the Cards and Dodgers on Wednesday, the Red Sox and Angels in Game 1 on Thursday, but then I have to decide whether I'll forego Game 2 in Anaheim in order to make my pilgramage to the sacred Forum in Inglewood on Friday night.  I'm really having a difficult time making this decision.  Why does life have to be so hard, guys?

At the 2:35 mark of this video, you can see me taking a picture of Magic Johnson as he gets up from the Laker bench following a timeout with just over a minute left in the game.  I didn't even remember having a camera!  I wonder what happened to those pictures......
 
 
At the 7:45 mark, you can see most of me standing behind the Laker bench as Tony Smith (#34) takes a seat after fouling out with 24.7 seconds left.

Here's a video I'd never seen until today.  In the very beginning of it, you can see me celebrating in the upper right corner.  At the 33 second mark, you can briefly see Michael Jordan getting a piggyback ride from one of his teammates as they attempted to leave the court through the mob of fans.  I was following right behind him for about 10 seconds, lightly smacking people's hands away as they grabbed and pulled at his jersey.  I remember his jersey being soaked through with sweat and thinking "Ew."  When we all reached the corner of the court, the players were let through but the rest of us were harshly pushed back by a WAVE of security.  For a few seconds there I thought I had a shot of trailing Jordan off the floor (you know, since I was acting as his personal security and all), but no.
