Went 5-1 yesterday only to lose on all the scoring in the 4q of the NO/Den game. On to today's games...
Bos@Chi: Line: Chicago -2
Really? The defending champs as underdogs in their first road game of the playoffs? This game is screaming Bulls. The Celts are not even close to the same w/o KG. They no longer have the defensive inside force to stop the opposing guards from easy layups (i.e. Derrick Rose). The Celts also lost all 3 road games last year in their first playoff matchup.
Saying all that, I still love the Celts in this matchup. Here's why:
1. They need this win to regain home-court advantage. If they are going to steal a road game, NOW is their chance. They can regain momentum of this series and take a commanding 2-1 lead.
2. The Celts are a better team when the public believes they can't do it. They thrive in an "under-dog" type role. Tonight, most of the public loves the Bulls @ home because of their stellar home play during the entire regular season.
3. Even though they lost KG, they still have Paul Pierce and this is still a team that played well without him (albeit, they are a completely different defensive team)
I also love the Under of 200.5. I don't see either team reaching 100, with this being a defensive battle that ends in the mid 90s.

On to my other picks for the day: Utah +1.5 Under 214 Dallas -4.5 Over 190

I love the over 190 thats my big play today. I can't see myself betting against the Lakers though they're too strong. United Center is a scary place to play this season I dont know about the Celtics. I think today I'm just going to go big on Dallas game over 190.

"They still have Paul Pierce..." That's a good one—the punch line to the joke that is now the Celtics. PP was with them for the years before Ray Allen and KG were signed on board. How many playoff series did he win for the Celts?

really the defending champs are not the same team at alll not one bit. they do not hustle and they are not as fast as the bulls even if they did hustle. the bulls clearly want it more and have more heart. do not even refer to boston as the defending champs beacuase that is not going to help them win this series. Chicago will win tonight

And that's why I'm fast leaning towards ditching my Bulls action that I placed yesterday at -2 -110 and ML -130. Great writeup, Scott. This Leon Powe news has caused a lot of people to pull the plug on the Celtics, but it's this added adversity that might make the depleted Celtics very dangerous. Without a doubt, the Bulls have become too square a play in Game 3. Might be best for me to just go for the scalps and just sit this out.

leaning on the celts earlier but now, im going for the bulls. its because its their first home game in this series, you can sense the bulls' eagerness on dominating the celts in their territory, they are more hungry for the win tonight. plus celts are not on 100%(some key players are injured and out for the season).
GL on your other plays though siege

sc, I just love it when everyone starts talking about how beat up the Celts are and how losing Powe is gonna kill 'em. This is a scenario that I love, because the Celts know they will need an extremely big effort from the "TEAM" tonight. They know their backs are against the wall and I look for them to come out playing the D that nobody thinks they can play without KG. GL tonight!
