I just scanned through 2 pages of threads and sa virtually no talk about this game. There is no interest which usually means it is the best game to bet on.
On paper San Antonio is the far superior team but can they win by 8 or more? Few interesting things to consider:
1. This is the Spurs final game of the rodeo road trip, although the All Star break was in the middle, they have not played a home game in 22 days. Are we really going to get a strong effort even from a team as well coached as San Antonio in what looks like a complete pushover game with the tantalizing option of flying home for an extended period after the game? Will Popovich rest some key guys again?
2. The Spurs have played 28 road games this year and have won only 5 by 8 points or more.
3. The Wizards are 2-0 since the All Star break. Although the have beat the T-wolves and Nets, 2 straight wins has to give them some confidence heading into tonight's game. Will they look to build on that confidence and test themselves against the Spurs?
Wiz make it a game or lay down tonight?

With Ginobili on the shelf it's really hard to see the Spurs winning by any type of big margin on the road even against horrible teams like Washington.
I'm playing Miami -3.5 at 3:30 though.

This is what I meant when I said the Spurs don't usually win by big margins on the road. You confirmed my suspicions with that stat.

As long as Caron Butler is playing the Wizards are usually pretty live. He has to be near the top on the "best player on a horrible team who will produce scoring outbursts to keep his team in the game and cover" list. Kevin Durant is #1 on that list. Caron is very high too.

butler is all-star material the games ive watched him.. and lately hes been playing well at the same time with jamison.. when they do they play competive basketball.. also spurs didnt play any good in detroit they played a piss poor pistons team.. i think they are missing ginobili and wizards are sure to cover here today.. im strongly consider a few more units on them

I agree with you mac! The Spurs barely beat the Pistons who, I think are playing about as shitty as anyone in the NBA. Spurs can't cover that kind of chalk today.

Some handicappers don't give a crap about things like this, but tonight will be the twelfth consecutive game in which the Spurs had to board a plane to get to the venue.

The Wiz matchup so poorly with the spurs though.....who stays in front of Parker? he'll blow by james all game long. Who guards duncan? who stops the spurs from raining 3s all game? (wiz are 27th in the league in defensive 3pt % allowed at 38%) I'm staying away from this one, good luck if you play it.

One other thing about the Wizards is if the young guys, particularly the bigs play well then Washington will put up a fight.
Butler and Jamison are pretty consistent but the young guys like Dominic McGuire, Andray Blatche and JaVale McGee are all over the place. Blatche has been consistently been getting better and has played well in his two games back since missing 9 with a knee injury. McGuire has played well in these two games since the all star break as well. These two playing well may be one of the reasons why they have won those 2 games in addition to the competition sucking. But if they continue to play well again I think Washington will make it a game.
There are also the wildcards like Nick Young and Jarvaris Crittenton. Not marquee players and extremely inconsistent young guys but if they're on they can play well off the bench.
I also think the Wiz have a lot of bigs to bang aroun with Duncan. Blatche, McGee, McGuire, Songalia and even Jamison can all bang around and use up fouls on Duncan.
All in all I think the Wiz show up with a strong effort tonight and couple that with a very uninspiring spot for San Antonio I think Washington can cover this number.

This has to be one of the most astute observations I've read in a long time - just another reason you do as well as you do value
