Was wondering if anyone on here actually lived in Vegas. Have a few questions if someone could help. Thanks.

best parts of las vegas are few and far between as the nicer parts are in henderson and summerlin and the lean to summerlin.

If you are looking to move to the state for wagering purposes I would recommend going to Carson City, overall better quality of living and right in between Reno and Lake Tahoe.

never heard of those streets add me and we can talk but like yava said hendo or sum are way to go unless you plan on shelling out money at a condo right on the strip there is a place that seems pretty quiet low key off spring mountain and decatar it is gated called the gloria apts on Decator south of Spring. My buddy lives there seems chill get the occasional bum in trash can. You will get that anywhere, closer to strip closer to crime. Add me and pm me ?s

im looking for a one bedroom apartment for like 600-700 a month that would be ideal. like i said im just looking online for apartments. i checked out those two areas and idk if summerlin is the town name or just the area but i looked in neighborhoods and summerlin was an option. the top two complexes under summerlin were on those streets. not really trying to live on the strip or on top of the tourist area, though i do want to be within driving distance...if that makes sense to u guys

Summerlin is great but its fairly big. It's really a general description of the Northwest part of Las Vegas.

You will live in Las Vegas but more specifically in Summerlin and then it gets real specific when you say which area of Summerlin by village/association name.

The Red Rock Canyon area is pretty nice.

and Nothing like that sunset over the mountains.

I live in North Summerlin a mile from red rock casino. I searched as you before moving here. I  bought a condo and live in a very secure gated community. I love it here everything new very clean all shopping close and safe here and if I have to go to the strip it does not take long to drive there. The crime is not her sort of like living in Palm Desert. You can find rentals in the range your looking for. The views are wonderful of the mountains here also.

Southern Highlands might be an area that you might want to research....

also, depending on your thoughts.....your budget might be better off finding a roommate and renting a 2BR apt......

many of these places are highly transient; those with mostly 2-3 br apts are less transient....

Ehhh you're young and single why the darn would you want to live in Summerlin?  The Polo Club on Flam/Decatur is pretty cheap and a gated community and about 5 min from the strip.

Smoke Ranch isn't bad depending what part you lived.  I lived in at a place called the Fountains at Smoke Ranch and loved it.  Close to Summerlin and many other great places.  Santa Fe Casino is a half mile away.  Bill is right that you are not immediately close to the Strip but that scene grew old to me after being there for a few months.  Enjoy the trip mine was amazing.

DONT get a roomate, as you'll end up getting stiffed on the rent share by some scumbag, get your own place.

LH Ssoccer13 has the right idea of his location is decent and away enough from the strip and scum.

Yea a roomate is a bad bad idea unless you're moving in with a friend that is half way responsible.

What's the purpose of you moving out here if you don't mind me asking? If you already have a job lined up that's how I would make the decision. While everything is relatively close traffic can be a pain in the behind in this city I mean not as bad as LA or anything, but coming from UNLV which is right by the strip to the side of town LHSoccer and Yavapai is talking about is a 40 minute venture between 2-6pm. Just stay away from Henderson/Green Valley the cops there are a little rediculous and have a little to much time on their hands.

$600-700 a month gets you a very transient apartment complex.....that's NEVER a good thing.....Metro Police has a website that lets you look at the variety of crimes in any area in Vegas....you might want to give that a try.

Personally, anything North of the Strip.....Summerlin, for example, is brutal to travel....the highways/drivers here really are poor.....always construction.....

Henderson....is never more than 15-20 minutes.....closer to The M rather than Green Valley would be my choice....

NJDevils is right.  There is no way it ever took me 40+ minutes to get to the strip from 95 and Tenaya even if the 95 or 15 was backed up you can take any number of streets south (Buffalo was my favorite) to any of the cross streets and get to the strip.

Look in the south west. Very nice area of town for what you are paying for. its only about 15 min from the strip.

I'll put in my two cents.  As most every else has said, the western part of the valley is the nicest.  My suggestion is anything west of Rainbow Blvd.  Although, I have younger, single friends that tell me Green Valley and Henderson is very cool too.

Hey guys, what do you think of those communities that have pool, bar, barbecues and those kind of stuff? Are they cool, like they seem to be in the pictures?

Thanks

Stay away from the strip, north vegas, and northeast vegas.

Anything around the Red Rock Casino / Suncoast is good, as well as the entire Henderson/Anthem area.

Lived there from '98 to '08. Best thing to do is to go there before moving. Rent a car and drive around the area that you think you are interested in to get a feel. Avoid NE part of town.
