got this info from my friends. they went 3-1 in week 1.
Edmonton (1-0) @ Montreal (1-0)
Edmonton will be getting the points in this game and we will definately be on them if they are +3+ dogs. Revenge game for last season's playoffs loss, catching Montreal after their own revenge for last season's Grey Cup loss. Edmonton's D definately improved and their offense had a bad night last week. The Eskimos offense is way too good to be bad in consecutive weeks. Last season they scored only 13 in their first game and then followed that with 34, 47 and 31 points in weeks 2,3 and 4. Lumsden was supposed to be a difference maker this season but even without him this team is more than capable of scoring points. Montreal scored 17 points last week on field goals and singles and 7 more points on a interception return. They led 22-3 at one point of the game but entered the 4th quarter tied. They were very focused and very well prepared for this game and their home opener against Edmonton could prove to be a big letdown game.
(0-1) Calgary @ (0-1) Winnipeg
Calgary will be hard pressed in this one to get back on the winning track after losinhg the Grey Cup re-match in their home opener. The question is, do they have enough energy after an emotional game vs Montreal in which they trailed almost the entire game and almost came all the way back to win it. This is a very tricky game and despite their recent success in games played at Winnipeg, they will not be of any interest for us in this game. Not even as a small fave against one of the worst teams in the league. Winnipeg played a good game for a bad team last week, but that was probably a result of a bad game plan and luck of motivation for Edmonton. If they play the Eskies again this week, they would be humiliated. This will probably be a no play ATS wise but the weatcher could influence our opinion on the total.
(0-1) Hamilton @ (0-1 BC)
While Hamilton's loss in week 1 was somewhaet expected, the BC's loss was shocking to many, but not to us. We picked Saskatchewan to win that game because of their home field advantage and revenge factor. BC is definately more talented than SSK but more talented teams don't always win. After their loss to Saskatchewan, BC lost all of the respect in the league if they ever had some going into this season. They were pretty much writen off by almost everyone after their lack of success last season. But if there is a good situation for them to bounce back it is this week's game against the worst CFL team. They won their two games vs Hamilton by 23 and 30 points and everything less than that would be humiating for them. The problem is, they will be a sizeable fave in this game and we are not ready to back them in that spot especially with Edmonton comming up on short rest.
(1-0) Saskatchewan @ (1-0) Toronto
Probably the best game situation wise this week, but we will wait to see the line before making any further decisions. Right now everything looks to be in Toronto's favor. More time to prepare, easier game in week 1 (which equals less energy spent), much better QB, and a huge home field advantage (more about that in a few minutes). Toronto played their week 1 game two days earlier than Saskatchewan and after jumping all over the T-Cats (23-0) they had an easy time closing that game out. As for Saskatchewan, their game vs BC in week 1 was circled since last season and everyone who watched that game clearly saw that they were emotionaly and physically spent after one half and even more after the game's end. It was a big revenge game for them and they won it just barely, mainly because of the emotions early on and not on talent by any means. They had 5 fumbles, 3 interceptions, with only 75 yards rushing and that's why they almost lost the game after leading 25-7 late in the first half. Meanwhile, Toronto outplayed Hamilton big time with C.Josephs throwing 3 TD and no interceptions, and 7.2 yards per game on the ground (124 yards on 14 carries for J.Robertson) and no turnovers offensively. Both teams have big games next week and that rules out any look ahead possibilities. Finally, SSK rarely plays 1 PM games in eastern Canada and three times in last four games in this situation they were blown out of the building by the home team.
