Theres been a lot of talk today on these boards about whether the NFL is fixed . . . lets settle the debate once and for all
YES . . THE NFL IS FIXED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been watching professional football since 1980 and have been betting on it intensely since the early 90s
I am here to tell you I have NO DOUBT in my f ing mind based on the funny business I have seen that it is fixed. Now some might argue that because I gamble at it, my view on this topic is skewed and the old charge can be levied against me that Im just a typical degenerate gambler whining because he lost some bet.
Bullshit ! I argue that because I view the sport with a unique perspective of a serious gambler, as opposed to the average fan who just watches for the pure pleasure of the game, I have more standing to state with some degree of credibility that it is fixed.
Lets take two examples from today. I was in the same day the beneficiary of a fix (Bears) and got moosed by the fix (Cleveland).
I cannot even repeat what happenned at the end of that Cleveland game due to the fact that it will make me ill. The spread is 17. Clev cuts it to 10 late and completes a pass to Kellen Winslow for a first down. Kellen conveniently drops it and a Pats defender picks it up and waltzes through six or seven Clev defenders who lacadaisaically and half-heartedly attempt to hand tackle him.
Tonight the Packers are dominating the Bears in the first half and Farve is throwing ball all over the place at will. Second half, guess what ? Tale of two halves....turnovers galore and Pack starts running. Its like they forgot to play football. God forbid the NFL have a huge market team like Chicago who made SB last year sitting at 1-4 and their season over. Have to keep those Chicago lemnmings interested in rest of season.
Way too many other examples through years too mention. How many times I see half ass tackle attempts or defensive players allowing TDs is absolutely comical. They are not even good actors.
Iowa basketball game last year. Iowa is down 21 points with 4 minutes to go. The spread is 14 or 15 and they are playing like its the final four. Calling timeouts, fouling. NBA ridiculous. Some Golden State game comes to mind at the end where a foul was committed that had no business being committeed to give two extra free throws for spread coverage purposes. The game was completely out of reach but there was a double digit spread to consider.
The NBA referree from this past summer. Northwestern a few years ago. C'mon....how much more proof do you need!!! How can anyone with a rationale mind deny that sports contests can be and are fixed?
I am nost saying all of games or even a majority of the games. As a matter of fact Im willing to say very few. But the important point is to agree that some percentage of them are fixed.
This my frends is a business first and that business is ENTERTAINMENT. Its a sport second. As an ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS where hundreds of millions of dollars are generated and at stake, the power behind that immense wealth has one interest and one interest only. Keeep the lemming's (fans and gamblers) interest at all cost.
How do they do this? Via dramatic story lines, underdogs doing the unthinkable and upsetting monstrous favors in David and Goliath moments. Setting up scenarios like next weeks unbeatens clash bw New England and Dallas. etc
Who is in on this?
Not necessarily players, could be coaches, could be referees, could be players...hell...how the hell do I know,...it could be all of them in unison.
What I do know is that funny and inexplicable things happen all the time in the world of sports.
Bottom line I am sick and f ing tired of how many intelligent posters and cappers whom I have tremendous respect for on these boards, stubbornly refuse to accept this simple fact. They come back with awww you just lost and are whining, give me proof of the fix (ie., the smoking gun) and so on and so forth.Or why would millionaire players risk it all yadda yadda yadda. Because they are actors first and foremost whose job is to create drama and interest.
It is almost as if some of you are in denial. And I cannot understand why?
Why if its fixed then do I continue to bet on this crap? WHile it is highly disturbing and disheartening to accept the "fix" as a normal course of business, that is exactly what one must do. Develop a thick skin and factor it in to your wagering. Also, because I find it highly entertaining and because it evens out.
You as a sports bettor should factor these things in and know in the long run it will even out. If you hit youre 57 - 60 per cent you should come out ahead regardless of the definite built in fixes. SEE EXAMPLE ABOVE REGARDING THE TWO GAMES TODAY (I split on the fix today). If I did my job in the remaining games, I shouldnt worry about it.
I realize I risked some of my credibility on these boards, by some of the more senior respected cappers, by posting this. I certainly hope that is not the case. I just truly believe this and feel better getting it off my chest.
Please remember, I had 10 units on that Bears game tonight. See my post from last night. It was my largest nfl wager this year. I won my wager.
AND I AM STILL SAYING THAT GAME SMELLED TO HIGH HEAVEN.

Looked like the Packers were in on the Fix too. And I'm saying this and I did not even have a bet on that game tonight.
