I jumped in Marty McFly's DeLorean earlier today and shot forward to 4:20 AM Monday morning...here's what the USA Today sports section told me about the NFL divisional playoffs...
Baltimore went to Denver on Saturday afternoon. Ray Lewis had a solid day, nine tackles and an interception. Ray Rice ran for 123 yards on 18 carries. However- Manning went 25 for 31 for 296 yards and 3 TD's...Flacco threw for 245 but with two picks, one for a TD return in the fourth quarter. Final was Broncos 31 Ravens 17.
The Niners hosted Green Bay in a game where the SF defense went blitz-blitz-blitz...Rodgers did his best and made it competitive, but the Niners ran a ball control game- they led time of possession 38:17 to 21:43. No turnovers in the game. Kaepernick threw for two TD's and ran for a third. Rodgers took five sacks on the way to a 310 yard day but it wasn't enough. SF wins over the Pack, 24-20.
Atlanta hosted Seattle in the early Sunday game. Russell Wilson was frustrated early and often, ending the day with 185 yards passing, no TD's and an interception. Marshawn Lynch kept it healthy on the ground, he carried 18 times for 117 yards and two TD's but it wasn't enough. The story of the game was Matt Ryan, who hit his receivers for 3 TD's and moved the ball effectively between the 20's. Falcons won the game 27-17.
Houston travelled to New England in the final game of the weekend. Houston's QB Matt Schaub did his level best with 299 yards passing and 3 TD's. The Texan's defense also held strong early, holding the New England offense to a net of 169 yards in the first half. In the second half, Brady passed for 265 yards and the Patriots held on for a tighter than usual victory. Final score was Patriots 31, Texans 27.
So here's whatcha got according to the future:
Broncos and the over
Niners and the under
Falcons and the under
Texans and the over
