Would you be willing to lay 15 to the Jets @ Houston?

I wouldn't. 

I don't think any reasonable bettor would.

The problem is that that would be the line if this game were at Houston based on the 9 the Jets are getting at home.

You give three to the favorite when you switch to a neutral field and then another 3 when you go to the opposing teams field. That's 3+3+9 =15 @ HOU.

I simply cannot take the Jets here but this line has to be one of the biggest I have ever seen for a 2-2 team at home (and this is without a starting QB injury factored in - Sanchez is fully healthy). Can anyone give me a bigger line for a 2-2 team, or a .500 team at any point in the season at home? 

Again, I can't take the Jets in this spot but Vegas is making you pay the squarest of square prices for HOU, and because of that, in addition to the embarrassment the Jets suffered last week which will provide enough motivation make you afraid of this line, I think this is a no play.

Just my opinion...and if you really would lay 15 @ Houston, I'd like to hear a defense for that.

Doesnt' necessarily work that way.  Some teams play much better at home.  Some teams are playing better at the time which also changes lines.  6-7 points is the standard for home field but you can't say -9 is no good b/c -15 would be no good.  See the Seahawks, b/c they're +1 or +2 against the rams, but -5 @ home.  I like seattle all day at home, but on the road they're just not as sharp.  See yesterday how many opportunities Carolina had to win.

You just proved it works that way. +1 (away) - 6 (for the home field) = -5 at home.

I understand your point about how some home teams play, with the Hawks having one of the best HF advantages in the NFL, but there is still a sound logic to the 6 pt. home/away differential and how much of a premium you are paying to take HOU here.

A lot of games swing closer to 10 than 6, home and away.

I would with Sanchez or Tebow at QB.  Jets are depleted with injuries.  I'd give up 17 in houston

There is no justification for playing the favorite tonite, even if they wind up winning by double digits. The under 40.5 is the smart bet here.

MNF and I can't imagine HOU wants to look like a lack lust squad. Although with alot of  NFL games the fact is HOU looks to easy and that doen't set well with me..............capping to the maximus.

ps Since they shit canned the red neck in the hat why not replace him with another HOT chick like Faith.....I can never see her enough. The opening for MNF is dull and found wanting.

That is the craziest thing I have read all day.

Clearly if houston covers, and houston bettors have sound reasoning as to why they placed their wagers on houston (there are tons)

regular season favorites of more than 6 points are 0-18 ATS if they were outgained last week but won that game by 17-28 points.
afc south teams on the road after hosting tennessee titans are 0-15 ATS since 2003. take away the teams that were on 5 + winning streak and you will get this: 0-12 straight up and 0-12 ATS. all 12 lost by at least 7 points and last 11 lost by doudble digits. 9 of last 10 lost ATS by double digits as well

The Jets have more on the line here in terms of the way they look when factoring last week's beating.
