Well lets
start this off by talking about the line. To me this says a lot. 3.5? If the
purpose of a spread is to induce 50/50 action then it should be 3. So why add the
kicker? Most people backing the gmel feel that they will win straight up, and
they’re getting an extra .5, gotta love it….right?
Most recently
this teams played each other in week 9. One would think NE would be hungry
after the sb debacle but lost 24-20. Yes it was 4 yrs and these teams are
completely different, but come on this is sports. There is no doubt that loss was
still on both teams minds. Things to point out from that game: David Bass and
Bradshaw did not play. Patriots lead 20-17 with one second left. Patriots had
more yds but the Giants won the turnover battle 4:1. Manning was 20-39 250 2
and 1 and was constantly under pressure against a terrible NE def. Kinda of
like last week Brady just off that game.

The biggest story line leading up to the game is the health of Gronkowskil There has never been any question of if he will play, but everyone is wondering how effective he will be. They'll have it taped up and he will get shots before each half. I'm expecting him to be somewhere between 80-90%. The ankle won't have much affect on his blocking or running, but should slightly hinder him on certain routes and cuts to get up field.
As much hype as theses 2 qbs have deservingly gotten, I fully expect both team to employ a balanced attack. In the week 9 meeting NE had about a 2:1 pass/run ratio, despite trying to establish the run early. I'm thinking NE will once again start the game with plenty of runs, draws, and screens mixed in, in order to keep the pass rush at bay. The last four games NE has run the ball 121 times and passed 152 times. Im not saying NE will run all over the place but they should have enough success to open up the passing game just a little. Gronk and Hernandez, as always, will have a great roll. I don't understand how anybody can think that Rolle and Phillips will be able to cover them. NYG gave up the 4th receptions to te's in the league, granted they did play against pro-bowl caliber te's in 7 games. However, in the playoffs they have limited Gonzalez to 4 for 44, Finley to 4 for 37, and Davis to 3 for 112 (73 on 1 play). A big part of there success has been Michael Boley.

Giants have no shortage of weapons on offense. Eli is playing the best ball of his career. Nicks and Cruz are sick, but don't forget about Manningham and then you got ballard. Manningham is underrated and he should absolutely destroy Edelman. Everything you read is how hot the Giants are and how the Pats have no chance of stopping them. The patriots have allowed over 24 points only twice all year. The Giants only 4 times. Yes the pats give up yards, but the whole purpose of playing defense is to get the ball back without giving up a score. During the regular sesaon NE was 15 in scoring and 4 in to;'s. In other words they were average and very good in the two most meaningful d-stats. Whats interesting is during week 9 it was Manning under pressure most of the game, not Brady. By the way the giants d-line was healthy that game. Giants defense averaged 3 sacks and have 7.51 sack%, In the playoffs they have average 3 sacks and 7.38 sack%. In the playoffs they have faced two of the worst pass protecting lines in GB and Atl

I haven't talked at all about any storylines or motivations. From reading these forums most people dont seem to think the matter. I agree only when you cannot back them up with logic.
Giants have to feel slighted being an underdog to a team the beat the last 2 times.
Brady and Belickick revenge.
Reversal of rolls from 2007. Yes Patriots are favored but this time it seems like its the Giants who are a little over confident. Patriots are focused. BB actually has them simulating the halftime break to practice.
Giants talking about being inside of Brady's head, how they cant wait to face Edelman, etc.
Can the Patriots win without cheating?
Myron Kraft....Who cares Robert Kraft. For anybody who ever wondered why Spygate got swept under the rug I encourage to research what he means to the NFL in terms of profits, revenues, and marketing success.
