I love the Lions to cover this inflated line. The Lions defense played its worst game of the year yesterday, yielding 480 passing yards to Matt Flynn! While you never want to see a performance like that, they will now go through hell this week and come out sharper on Saturday.
Add to yesterday's performance the fact that the Saints just covered -9 against the Lions 4 weeks ago, and that the Saints have covered 8 games in a row, and you get a very reasonable justification for the -11 line. You also get a perfect setup for a hotel-building bloodbath.
This will be a close game. Lions +11

will go through hell this week? Is that your reasoning for betting them. what makes you think that? The Lions defense is horrible. Read what you just said, they allowed 6TDS to Flynn now they play against Brees and the Saints who have dropped over 40points easily on people at home. This line is in no way inflated its exactly where it should be.

the saints line is inflated as it usually is when they are at home but how does detroit fix their defense in one week? they routinely gave up 30+ on the road this season. the saints offense is hitting on all cylinders. detroit may be able to keep up and cover but i doubt that it will be because of their defense.

I love how everyone is asking how the Lions are going to stop Brees. How the fuck are the Saints going to stop Stafford. Saints have an even worse pass D than the Lions and Stafford has stepped up his game big time since overcoming the broken finger.

Saints are the one and only team I wanted to the Lions to do everything possible to not play them. They failed! We will not be able to stop brees I am sorry. This game is over we do not stand a chance. Cover is possible but unlikely as the Saints defense is much better than both ours and Green Bays. And Saints offense is better than both ours and Green Bays. The only way to beat the saints is to run the ball on their weak rushing defense and to keep brees off the field. We cannot do this. Our only chance is playing russian roullete and gunning it out with a veteran who does it best with 3 solid running backs who catch the ball. Good luck Lions, I will be giving all the love and prayer to actually win this game but reality is Saints win with ease.

^^ yup, Saints will this game look like they're playing the Lions of yesteryear. I'm grabbing -11 before it goes up and still take it in my parlays even when it goes up.

I guess if you only look at the passing yards allowed per game. The stat was skrewed because in most games, Saints were ahead and the other teams were forced to play catch-up. Lets forget that for a moment, Stafford is no Brees no matter how much you think he has stepped up his game so far. He is good but you can't say they are comparable right now with a straight face.

right now the TT for NO is 35 which I actually think is somewhat of a coinflip team total. Maybe not coinflip but 60/40 in favor of NO getting to it. But
Personally I prefer the 1st half NO TT of 18. I can see 3 TDs in the 1st half for NO...

The atrocious defensive performance against a second string quarterback allowed the bookmakers to get away with -11. Folks like yourself look at the GB game and find the line perfectly justifiable. "If Matt Flynn can do that to them, what will Breese do!"
In reality, however, the Lions defense, while not great by any means, is not as bad as it showed on Sunday. Breese will get his points, but the D will be more competitive than the impression you were left with on Sunday.
Ask yourself this question - If the Lions game against San Diego had been the final game of the season rather than the Packers game, would the line have opened at -11 this week??
The answer is no, but ironically the Saints would have had a better chance of covering that number than they do now, in my opinion.
