I'm on the other side of you here. I have tremendous respect for the Steelers , they probably should be a small favorite here and not a small dog ,but , the lines get set so books can profit .

Here are a couple of factors that i think sway me to the packers over the steelers:

In their 2 palyoff wins the steelers caught some breaks :

In the Raven game the steeler offense really could not get anything going at all in the 1h (the 1 td was setup by a big time paly to wallace that the ref called a pi on the ravens). The game turned on the Rice fumble , after that , Flacco and the entire offense just melted under the pressure. The Defense played great the entire game , but , the Raven D did a tremendous job on the non turnover drives and really limited the steelers offensivly. Obviously the blown coverage on 3 and 19 was the big play at then end of the game and Big Ben made that play when he had to. I don't see this Green Bay offense going into a total nosdive similar to the Ravens in the 2h and really even the 1h . Take away the turnovers ,  and Big Ben and Co really didn't do much. To me the Packer defense can do as good a job agaisnt the Steelers as the Ravens did on the long drives and keep them under 20 points (assuming no short field t/o's by ridgers and co)

To me the Jets 1h was a big time advantage to the Steelers. It was the Jets 3rd game on the road in a row and 5th in 6 weeks!

Throw in the fact that they were coming off a big time revenge game against the Pats , the odds were stacked against the Jets big time in that game from a gas in the tank perspective. The Steelers were home 4 of the previous 5 weeks coming into that game and had only travelled to Cleveland !!!

I don't look at the 2h as any type of collapse for te Steelers in the Jet game. They managed the 2h to win the game not to win by 50!

When they had to make the plays they did , the 4th and 1 on LT and Big Ben making the throws on the last drive.

As i stated earlier , the schedule was big time agaisnt the Jets and that gave the Steelers a big cushion in this game , especially in the 1h.

In this Superbowl , the Steelers will not face a QB who will meltdown like Flacco , i'm sure Rodgers will make mistakes , but he won't be scared of losing the game out there. The packer team gets a bye here in the extra week , that the tired Jets did not have in the Afc game.

Now i don't expect Starks to run for 100 yrds, but i do expect him to be able to get some meaningful runs and to go for about 40-60 yrds , throw in Kuhn once in a while and i think the packers can rush for around 70- 80 yrds in this game and give the offense the balance that it has enjoyed in it's playoff run.

Look for the Packer defense to play above their ability as they are the least of the 4 units being talked about in this game!

The Steelers are a great team and have all the variables that you mentioned about the coaching experinece and players having rings already etc etc , and while that is meaningful, a lot of those similarities were present when the Giants beat the Patriots a couple of years ago.

If Tom Coughlin and crew could beat Bill B and crew , you can't tell me that McCarthy cannot beat Tomlin here. Tomiln is the better coach , no question , but , that alone does not guarantee vicotry. The giants hardly had any players on that team with any SB experience ,but they beat a team with many many rings and a QB that has played much better than Big Ben in the super bowl.

So while i can 't fault your pick on the Steelers , i just thought i would give you some reason as to why I think the Pack will win besides Pouncey being out

and as Gilberto mentioned in his thread, it is so difficult to win with one dimensional offense..

no matter how good Starks looked in last few games, it will not be easy for him to run against the Steelers.

on the other hand, i expect another good showing by Mendenhall.. maybe MVP ?

the Packers are no longer 1 dimensional , starks presence makes defenses have to honor the run , he will get a workload here on sunday , unless the pack fall behind real early and has to deviate the game plan, he can be effective getting 15 -20 carries for 40 -60 yards

Steelers in a good spot.  Joe Public all over the Packers and we know what usually happens when it is one sided especially in big games like this.  I believe Steelers feel disrespected and will show Joe whats up tomorrow.

the lines were short in philadelphia , atlanta - those teams should have been bigger fav's and they weren't , the pro's who backed vick and ryan because looked good got beat 2 weeks in a row

a lot of sharps were on the bears last week and got killed

win or lose tomorrow, all the joe public's are already playing with house money

With ya MICE. This was a no-brainer for me even before reading BODIO, GILBERTO, you, and the many respected others. No offense to the Packers' backers at all...just like a little more with the Steelers to steal'er another SB. Pouncy, schmouncy...

Regardless, hope it is a good game for all.
