To help ease the ache which some of us are currently experiencing after the Jets/Vikings game, let's band together and share tales of bets gone awry and other occasions where the moose was indeed loose.
This doesn't have to be strictly pro NFL, and the amount doesn't matter necessarily, so post 1 or 3 or 5 or whatever of the plays that made you want either throw up or commit multiple felonies.
I'll wait to post my personal experiences after the thread gets going. Assuming it does.

I have heard others worse than mine, but mine was when I bet the Rays (in September of 2009) and they had a 10-2 lead in Cleveland and lost. No one should count preseason NFL, players and coaches really don't care.

Don't think pick 6 or last second lay-ups constitutes bad losses. Its sports....and it happens...
However, without a doubt my worse loss ever was the steelers and the chargers in 2008. Polamalo intercepts and covers for me at the end of the game. Two backwards laterals lead to a legit interception but the refs took it away.
A guy dealing with a bad elbow I can handle. Inferio officials I can not.

Arizona is crap, should be 1-4 not 3-2.... they were killed by the Falcons and Chargers... they barely beat the Rams week 1.... and only beat the Raiders cuz Jano blew a FG for the win and Raiders handed them the win..... however the Saints look like a 8-8 team not a Superbowl team from last year
another team that has hurt me.... the Bengals! Where the fuck is the offense????

College hoops it was Georgetown vs Memphis. I was on the Hoyas. Memphis was -5 and winning by 4 while dribbling the clock out to end the game from 30-35 feet away. A clear winner for me by covering by a point. With 1 second left the Gaurd from Memphis throws the ball up in the air hook shot style in celebration with no intentions of throwing it towards the hoop and guess what happens. Thats right nothing but the bottom of the net for a 7 point win and a loss for me .
Another college hoop game. Siena is a local team here so i went to check them out one night and they were a 14 point favorite. Game was close within the spread the whole game. Siena had a 15 point lead with 15 seconds left at the top of the key dribbling the clock out. With Siena gaurd Kenny Hasbrouck dribbling the clock out 15 seconds, 10 seconds, 6 seconds....looks over to his coach and takes his eye off the game. Kid from the other team picks his pocket and goes down and lays one in with 1 second left for a Siena 13 point win. Siena -14 .
A side note on the Siena game. After they stole the ball in a clear win which was a perfectly legal play the Siana coach Fran Mccafrey went CRAZY. After the kid made the layup the WHOLE team was laughing and jumping for joy knowing the just broke the spread. With 1 second left you would think Siena would just inbound the ball and game over right? Siena instead of doing that then rolled the ball down the court with all intentions of getting another basket and covering the spread. Ended up missing an elbow jumper to end the game. An ending to a game which makes you wonder....

The one loss that sticks out for me was back in 2007 in college football. Florida St @ Boston College, played U40 and I think by kick off the line had fallen to about 37 or 38. There was a crazy rain storm with howling winds through the first half and with a score of only 10 to 7 for FSU after three quarters the under looked guaranteed. By the fourth quarter the weather had cleared up and 27 total points were scored much to the liking of Mr. Musberger who made a comment during this game pertaining to the total which led many people to believe he was on the over for this game.

One loss sent me on tilt. That was the over in New Orleans when they played NE. If you remember, it was a higgggghhhh scoring first half but New Orleans eventually blew them out. Carney missed a chip shot early in the 4th, the Pats took out Brady (tools) and the Saints milked the clock.
That was killer.
I've had numerous bad beats though. I don't know, alot of nba stuff.
Ah, I lost with Ubalod JImenez when he was 15-1, what are the chances, lol.

About 12 years ago I lost every NFL on Sunday at a dime a game. I figured there is no way in HELL you can do that two weeks in a row. It happened...
so you went 0 for 15 two weeks in a row? wow.
Another one, Twolves at Cavs last year. I was on the under, and it was looking ok, but with Cleveland up handily with less than a minute and trying to run the clock out, Minnesota just kept fouling and fouling. Would not quit at all.

I had ML bets, Reverse RL and Reverse RL -2.5 bets on the the cardinals here: https://www.covers.com/pageLoader/pageLoader.aspx?page=/data/mlb/results/2010/boxscore295219.html
That was a tough, tough one to swallow.

Not sure how many years ago, but I made the biggest bet (on an over my entire life) $3000 OVER 34. I know the Cardnials (when the were crappy) were playing another bad team.
Score at half time totaled 31 ponts--Golden right?
You guessed it ZERO points scored in the second half. The only saving grace was that I was at a strip club and had 50 woman to ease my pain!

you can't have both sides of a bet be a moose... in other words, if that pick 6 didn't happen, then all the Jets backers think they got moosed, and if it did happen, then the Vikes backers think they got moosed...
it doesn't qualify as a moose, if whichever side loses (regardless of which side it is) thinks they got moosed...
the under was a true moose... but there was no moose on the side in that game... if you had the Vikings, you shouldn't have ever been alive to have a fighting chance in the 2nd half... you got teased is what you got... not moosed!

Holy Shit dude, I remember that game as I had the Hoyas too. WTF!!!!!!
Okay, by far my two worst bad beats came in 2008.
#1) Took WVU -2 vs. NC in the 2008 BOWL GAME. WVU wins...31-30
Maybe not a MOOSE per se, but a terrible loss nonetheless. I did 'double or nothing' with a bookie on this one...
#2) Took the UNDER 45 in the 2008 Steelers / Cardinals SUPERBOWL. All looked well in hand until the 4th quarter when both teams scored nearly 30 pts thus the UNDER.
Lost a nickel on that one.
Two terrible, terrible bad beats for me.
Oh and #3) Took Texas -3.5 vs. OU in 2009 for a couple bills...
Texas wins by 3. McCoy had the ball deep in OU territory late in the game and... INT!!!!
I must say though...
I've had some remarkable comeback covers too... one which sticks out is Harangody of ND B-Ball hitting like 5 consecutive 3's vs. Louisville (?) to cover as a 9 pt dog in 08 I believe. That was unreal.

But honestly, the biggest MOOSE for me in my betting life has been this 2010 FOOTBALL SEASON. I've been absolutely atrocious. Starting with WVU -12 @ Marshall. Shit's been downhill since.
I'm going to have to quit using a local & start going with The Greek with a new strategy: moneyline parlays... fuck the spreads

Betting a prohibitive public darling that's laying points on the road and gets beat outright is not a bad beat...it's just another day in the NFL...especially when the spread is in the teaser window.

Years back Steelers/Jaguars. Monday Night Football. Sept. 22,1997. Jags ahead 23-21 :03 to play. I had Steelers and getting 4. Steelers setting up for winning field goal. Make it, don't make it, I don't care. Field goal attempt blocked and run back for touchdown. Final 30-21 Jags. Loser. Not that I'm bitter or anything.
