Sucker bets... Week 2 had a couple sucker bets lined up for the house to make their money. Some of the bets were Titans -5, Vikings -5.5, Pats -1.5, Ravens -1.5, and of course, Saints -5.5.. I only played one game this week and posted this last week Friday i believe and it was Bengals at +1.5. I bet even more on the +3 as well.
Lets start with the Titans and Viks, which were sucker bets as alot of public plays were coming in on these teams and the line either held, or even favored the noobies to chase. I believe the Vikings even dropped to 4.5 by game time! If i remembered correctly, both these games had 75% or more public plays on them, and both these teams lost this week SU.
Next are the Pats and Ravens.. These 2 teams looked strong on week 1 and opened at a very low number(Pats -1 and Ravens -1) against 2 teams who didnt look very sharp. I had seen Ravens at -1 and licked my chops! Doing my research, the Bengals had won the last 4 of 5 against the Birds at home and won the 2 games last year. Ray Rice struggles and i think Flacco is highly overrated. Obviously, the line raised, but never moved off one of the crucial numbers(3,6,7,10,14) and got bet down to 2.5 by gametime. outcome, Bengals win SU. THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED TO THE PATS AS WELL!!! Ravens had 73% of the bets and NE had somewhere around 90%!!
The Colts wouldve fell in this category as well as this line opened at 5.5 i believe and fell to something around 4 at most houses. Figuring as the Colts are a public Fav, the house took some cracks on this play as all the chasers probably bet the farm on them.
But dont think that youre out of the clear yet! Most houses end on Monday and there's the Monday sucker play. hrmmm Saints -5.5 against a Niners team who shit the bed against a horrible Seahawks team that got smashed against the Broncos the night before.. Super Bowl Champs SHOULD WIN BY MORE THAN A TD is what every office worker who thinks they know football is saying at lunch today. Oh and the line goes down to 4.5??you're saying shit im out of the hole, now let me hurt the bookies pocket! Give me the Champs at anything under a TD right? WRONG! Champs win by 3 and you right back in the hole ready to chase on week 3.
One that I already see that may shape up to be one of the Sucker bets
of the week are the Texans at home at -2.5 against the 0-2 Cowboys.
This post is meant to help everyone win some money and spot some of these sucker bets. go ahead and bash this, but just like you, im here to win money. Please chime in and help ourselves go on vacations year round on the house!!

I dont see the Texans as a sucker bet. In fact, I see the Cowboys as a sucker bet because everyone doesnt think the Cowboys will start the season at 0-3.

True.. the Boys are def a public team and alot of people bet the Cowboys regardless of the line.. even that, the Texans should be favored by more than 2.5 at home.. this shit screams Texans.. if they baited boys bets, it wouldve opened at 3 or 3.5 in my eyes..

Agreed. Cowboys will run the ball, which they've only done 30% of the time so far, or Coach Wade will be murdered by everyone in Dal. Can Hou stop that run?

i know its the wrong forum, but in NCAAF, Pitt over Miami on Thursday night is shaping up to be a sucker bet.. public blood bath written all over this Miami bet. I'll be starting off the week good with Pitt on Thursday.
Oh yea, besides Hawaii(who covered) the home team on Thursday has won SU! i think this was a nice little trend last year as well.

I was thinking the same thing with the Sucs too.. Pitt played 2 tough games already and this is a sandwich game for them as they got the Ravens next week.
will be looking into the games a bit closer come thursday. GL to all and please continue to chime in as all this little information helps everyone!!

Biggest sucker bet of the week is Steelers. Opened up at -3 & now is -2.5 at bookmaker & -1 at Pinnicale. Tampa 2-0 & Steelers 2-0, who do you think the public will bet at Steelers -2.5?

I agree with almost everything you say.I do not agree with two points though.First I do not believe that Balt was a sucker bet unless its just for people who dont know anything about the shit that bet on.Cincy did not look good week one but if you watched the game against NE you would have seen NE got off big early with home field. After everything settled it was obvious the better team was the bengals. The other one you mentioned I dont quite agree with is tonights game. The 49ers absolutely was abusing the seahawks into the middle of the 2nd at one point the total yards was 149-8.the problem though, was that the niners only had a 6-0 lead.Their mistakes kept seattle in the game and once the hawks took the lead they got the crowd into the game and carried all momentum.any good better should know if the niners get good QB play they are a contender. I really like your post bro...trying to help people is the way to go...good karma!!!

^^^^ i included the titans and viks as sucker bets due to the fact that over 70% of the bets came in on these teams and the line didn't move.. in fact, went down in both games from the opening line.
also the just cause majority of covers played niners, doesnt mean that majority of the "public" played them.. in fact, alot of money came in on saints.. dont know how much of them played the ML, but even so, the best they did was buy a sh*t load of pts to make it a fg spread..

You would think Pitt would write the Ravens game off and try to win the easier one out of the two. At this point, Pitt should be more worried about winning the easy games than trying to match up with the tough teams. Going 3-1 with Big Ben coming back is a great spot for Pitt.

The sucker bet is those who follow % of people on a bet and what the line's response is....Study a match-up and determine the likely outcome, don't read bs #'s on what a herd mentality does.
1) I bet the Dolphins + and ML...If it wasn't for 1 nice INT by the CB expecting a stop fade and the D-line of the Phins making a tremendous play on the 1 against AP (yeah you'd be a sucker if you bet AP couldn't score from 3 yards on 4 downs) the Vikes would've covered. 2) Titans..yeah I fell for their trap. If you watched the game the opening KO went for a Pitt score and then 7 TO's from a team whose job it is to run, Oh also CJ had an 80+ yarder called back because of a lame hold. Pitt couldn't run/throw or shit IMO. You predict 7 TO's from a Jeff Fisher team again and I will give you my money rather than betting it. 3) Saints...I had SF + and ML so the end pissed me off that it didn't go to OT, I would agree SF looked better and situation warranted a play on them, but NO could've covered if they stopped SF w/ 1 min left (not really a sucker bet) imo... 4) Balt...I laid off this 1, but from watching the highlights the refs cost these guys again w/ the weird roughing the QB call which keeps going against them in big games. Flacco also tossed a bunch of picks which I revert to my post on Fisher, if you can tell me Harbaugh will have his QB throw 4 picks again I will pay you rather than bet.
Pats, maybe...yeah got burnt by them, hell made an in-game bet I was so confident they'd keep cruising, but I will say this was a tossup dealing w/ a good off vs. good def and bad off vs. bad def. I was fading the Jets and Sanchize, also thought Randy may actually try, but simply NE isn't that good. Colts...I was at the game and anyone who thought we'd lose 2 in a row w/ a home opener vs lil bro was smoking something I wish I had.
It's easy to be a Monday morning QB when looking over lines and how they were bet, I just hate people acting like the "Sucker" bet is obvious. It's a fucking spread and if you were so damn confident these were sucker bets fucking post it before the games and let everyone know you Cannot lose, otherwise it's called the FUCKING NFL and teams win and lose by the slimmest of margins (1 or 2 plays usually determines an outcome ATS and SU). As long as a book has 50/50 action they're content and they just hope when the action is against them they win and if not they get it back from the juice.

Vegas wins more often then not.. if you follow the herd, get slaughtered like the rest of them.. im not saying that this theory of going against the public bets with little or no line movement is a 100% win rate.. even at 60%, youre still a winner..
not every short line is a sucker bet.. The colts had the same short
line, with movement begging you to take colts.. They slaughtered the
Giants.. Colts couldve still won the game and cost you some cash.. but
in the end, it was a an easy victory for Colts backers
The Saints were given that game.. Niners had all the momentum and doofus muffs a punt with 5 mins left to play.. oh boy fumbles in the red zone before half when the score was 9-7.. you can say this about every game.. the Niners were the play and if anyone took NO, it was there fault..shouldnt be backing a team with a trend of 4-16 ats for super bowl champs first road game.. let alone a monday nighter with the home team retiring one of their greatest players..
yea there was a bullshit roughing the passer call on Terrell Suggs.. but even if this wasnt called, the game was still 10-9 Ravens and bengals wouldve punted.. and this shit unit of an offense wasnt doing anything against the Bengals anyways and probably still wouldve lost SU.. they gave this game away.
and yes, its easy to look back at last week and say yea this and yea that.. thats why i started this thread early so everyone can benefit from it..
