Philly to win NFC @ +800ish

Philly to win Soupline Bowl @ +1600ish

i have more interest in the to win the NFC then i do the Soup Bowl.

now the reason i posted this, is because i'm trying to figure out if i should bet this now, OR wait until after this weeks games. I don't track futures odds on something like this very closely, so i'm wondering what kind of risk i'd be running sitting on my hands for 36 hours with this.

IF Eagles win this week, i'd expect the odds to take a slight hit, especially if dallas loses as well. if the eagles lose, i don't think they are in too different a situation because if i'm willing to risk anything to say they stand a chance at representing the nfc in the soup bowl, then i'm also inclined to think that they could/will beat dallas wk 17 especially with the game really meaning something like home game in the wild card

I think it's tough...it's almost a mathematical certainty they will have to play at NO and at MN if they want to win the NFC.

Can they win 2 road dome games against balanced offenses?  They struggled to win at MN last year then had a large number laid on them by AZ.  I don't see it happening.

Looking at two strong stats Pass Yards Per Attempt and Yards Per Point, looks like on paper Phily is the third best, but as you can see they have the worst PYA out of all these teams at 6. I like the Giants Sunday, big difference in PYA for these two.  gl

I cannot stand anything Eagles. their team, their coach, their QB, their fans, their shitty looking stadium down in parking lot heaven, Eagles make me sick

But i'm talking about where they are today and where will they be tomm, and in the next few weeks. After years of very high expectations, and a whole bunch of winning, it feels like they have no pressure. What do they have to lose? didn't the franchise just extend fat Andy for four more years?  Westbrook is already gone, the defense that made this team what it was for pretty much the entire Reid/Mcnabb era is gone. jimmy johnson, gone.  this is a new Eagles team. and while their resume for this season isn't that impressive, they are still the 4th most favored team to win the NFC. for good reason.

While the Cowboys have struggled in recent Decembers — 5-9 since 2006 — the Eagles have owned the month. They're 28-11 in December this decade, including 12-3 since '06. Maybe it's the cold air or the anticipation of Santa's arrival. Whatever the reason, the Eagles seem to click when it counts.

"It's that time of the year, that last quarter," coach Andy Reid said Monday. "If you're still in the hunt, things get a little faster, guys play a little faster and so on. That's the nature of the game. That's where we're at. It's important that we keep practicing the way we've been practicing and preparing the way we've been preparing. The guys have been very focused the last few weeks."

Under Reid, the Eagles have always been a strong second-half team. Overall, they're 58-30-1 in November and December during Reid's tenure. That includes a 2-5 mark during his first season in 1999 when he inherited a wretched team and quickly turned the franchise into a perennial winner.

Late-season success usually can catapult teams into the playoffs. The Eagles have used their December dominance to reach the postseason seven times in Reid's first 10 years in Philly. They've reached the NFC championship game five times and the Super Bowl once.

"This is something that has been happening for us for years," quarterback Donovan McNabb said of the second-half success. "You go through the first part of the year where you are getting that chemistry and getting that timing and things going. This is the time of the year that people remember. You never remember September, October. You always keep your mind on November, December and January because, if you have that opportunity, you want to go into the playoffs and hit it rolling."

Despite suffering two concussions within a span of a month, Brian Westbrook

"That's my hope, to get back out there and play," Westbrook said Wednesday in his first press conference since suffering his second concussion at San Diego on Nov. 15. "I think all the signs right now are aiming towards being able to play before the end of the season."

The most important catalyst for the eagles success on offense during the McNabb era, has been the Westbrook screen pass.  McCoy has looked shaky when running screen plays, but i don't doubt that he is improving over time.  And now Westbrook is talking about playing again this year.

Look, i know this might sound crazy, but i wouldn't be a bit shocked if the Eagles rolled into the playoffs 12-4, with access to Westbrook. That would mean possibly, a home game against a WC team (Dallas or Green Bay?) then @ Minny (my reasoning being that minny finishes behind the saints, gets the bye, but NO would draw the lesser survivor of the WC round which would be whichever team isn't the Eagles. then, and this is all hypothetical, @ NO, or if Zona gets hot, possibly zona @ philly

still, mathematically i might be better off waiting.

very rare to get value on futures at this point of the season. Wait and parlay Phily on the money line starting from their first playoff game to the superbowl. If they are a wild card team you will get closer to 30-1.
Lets project out the worst case scenario where there is no wild card game

Phily at Minny Guess +2 to 1. Bet 1unit to win 2.
Then Phily at NO. Guess +2-1. Bet 3 to win 6.
Phily vs. AFC Guess +3-1. Bet 9 to win 27.
You win 36 minus your original 1 unit bet for 35-1.

Plus, if they dont make the playoffs you save cash

Dallas, Giants, Arizona, Saints, Vikings are all better than Philly

I was fooled last year. They didn't really have anything to lose last year either. They benched McNabb and weren't expected to do much, they only made the playoffs on the day of the season and I believe they were the 6th seed. This year they have new sexy weapons on offense and people are expecting them to make noise.

They may win a couple games in the playoffs but when push comes to shove you are relying on Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb to come through when the heat is on and considering they are the two biggest chokers in professional sports this decade I would not get my hopes up. I was blinded and fooled last year, won't be happening again.

Vikings have some injury issues now with EJ Henderson out for season, cedric griffin questionable and a winfield and harvin are probable

haven't seen adjusted prices after week 14 has played out, but i would guess philly and zona prices would flip flop,,,philly should go to around 6 to 1 ish.  Not quite as enticing a number, but i had decided to pass for now and played philly n over on Sunday night. 

You might argue that philly isn't the 2nd best team in the nfc. they are certainly in the top 3. at the same time, come playoffs who are you going to trust more,,,,?  Favre and Childress? Brees and the defenseless Aints?

Cards Defense is much better than last year. Even last night in that horrid game, the defense showed good signs. I just feel like Arizona can make some big plays on the defense when needed.

I don't know what showing the NFC East schedule does for your statement about 2nd Best. We know your not better than the Saints. So, I take it you want to say you are better than the Vikes? Why?
